I didnt know really where to put this so I figured I would just stick it here and if it needs to be moved it will get moved. Anways I heard a while back on here that the bays trail has been blocked on the hawkins county side. Is this true? I want to ride Bays over my spring break from the Hawkins side and was just wondering if it was blocked. I dont want to drive all the way out there and find out its blocked. Anyone have any idea on this?

There were some rocks rolled in the way a while back but you can get around them.

There is a group of guys on the Hawkins county side that ride the trail EVERY Sunday afternoon. Easy to spot casue they've always got their Beer in hand and colorful language flying. Nice bunch of guys, but not the Grace kind of guys. Anyway, If there was something blocking the trail, especially on that end, it wont be there for long. Those guys will move it or find a way around it so they can have their Sunday drive.

pplblazerdude you got any pics from the ride? How was the trail? Much changed?

HARDBODY630
03-13-2007, 11:04 PM
nothing really changed, its all about the same. there are two random big rocks came outta nowwhere on the hawkins ct. side that are kinda hard to manouver around. but easily passable.

everything else was pretty much the same. seems like the Bays side that got blocked is getting easier adn easier as more traffic runs over it.

pplblazerdude you got any pics from the ride? How was the trail? Much changed? The ride was good. Like Ryan said not a whole lot has changed. I ended up having to run the whole trail in two wheel drive. about 30 or so minutes in I broke my Passenger side hub. I had heard a popping sound a while back but never found it. Well I found it now and the hubs have been replaced with premium hubs now.

Jeep took some bangs eh?
thats what bumpers and rocksliders are for 8) . tires were caked - during one bump i managed to hit my head on two rollbar spreaders, knocked off my hat, the change drawer popped out, cb microphone fell, and the magazine ejected from the cd changer - i dont think i tried that line again...

Did you make it up through the gulley?
negative, i backed off of the one shown in the video. i could come up with a list of excuses but I cant just drive over it like you effortlessly do. After watching it from the camera's perspective ive got my line picked out for next time.

It's funny how some say Bays is no fun but it's got the toughest obsticle of any of our local trails :?

Simo
03-14-2007, 02:38 PM
it doesnt look that bad, but like most east coast terrain, the wet mud packing clay base makes it tricky

I think it looks pretty fun and I'd be willing to try it sometime if I get the chance.

haha when you least expect it! theres even some more footage that was left out
whoever else was filming when i wasnt (i think it was Ryan) did a good job to work in the silhouetted sunset through the trees that became the ending.

I know you probably don't want to remove the Sahara rocker trim, but you should ditch those plastic rock grabbers & get real rocker guards man. Just ask SolarTJ how tough those plastic steps are

The step sides are going to stay on for a little while longer. But I have in the works, rock guards and step sides. Taken some time but will look great when done.

And yes the Saraha flares will stay, that is what makes a Saraha a Saraha.
