It becomes a big circle. Businesses don't really pay for it, though. They'll just raise prices to offset it, 'cause they're going to continue to make their profits. It's almost like a tug-o-war. Back and forth. One day you're the bug and one day, the windshield.
Hopefully, businesses won't lay off people instead of paying a higher wage. Or outsource more to overseas. :(

Increasing minimum wage hurts the poor people the most. All the cheap things in life will become more expensive. Your 50 cent soda becomes a dollar your 99 cent burger becomes $1.50. They don't raise the cost in porportionally, but rather decide to up profit at the same time. The middle class can absorb it, but the poor people who will make an extra $50 per week will find that it costs them $60 more per week to live.

Not if you started your job at $5.25 and worked your butt off for 2 years and got a $1 raise/year. After this, anybody off the street could come in and make the same as you are without having to work one day there.

It should stay the way it is. Wanna make more money. Work harder or get an Education and then work harder.

Current is what 5.15? so everyone that makes 7.25 now is gonna demand a 2.00 raise in the next two years... making 11.00? yep, gonna ask for 13.00 now...
Why is that? cause if you were making 2.00 more than minimum wage, you feel that you should still make 2.00 more than minimum wage when it goes up.
All increases in the cost of doing business is passed on to the consumer. So it really is a wash... here comes inflation...
