on the way to the gas station tonight. a police car pulled in behind me and gave me the "i'm tailgating so i can run your plates" follow. i pull in to the station and he pulls up behind and gets out. i'm expecting the ticket for the broken taillight at this point. instead i get,"is your jeep for sale?". "no bud, i've had it for 10 years and can't let it go." i said. "ok, just wonderin." and he leaves. totally didn't see that comin. must be the shiny paint. :lol:

I would just thank the Lord, on another note Kingsport just got new cruisers new black and white Chargers with the low profile light, those things are really sharp.

Yup those chargers with the police package will blow away the Impala's they currently have. I know one of my cop buddies hated the new impalas when they first got them cause they were gutless and a V6.

Yep, and they are "police tuned". They will easily do 120mph+. Not that can vouch for that personally. :twisted:

Well 120+ isn't to impressive my escort (stock) will do 120+ but it all comes down to how fast it gets there. Alot of the cars that are considered tuners will do 120+ easy and with some modification will get there pretty fast. It is not all about how big the motor is. I had a 91 escort Gt with a 1.8l and some computer mods that I got clocked at 135mph in. I was in 4th gear also but you had to have plenty of space to do it in.

Mobile County Sheriff Department is buying the Chargers for their cruisers too. The time from order to delivery on them is only a week or so compared too several months for the crown vics. The long wait on the crown vics my be a local problems down here though

They had a chase here, against a stolen C6 Vette and They said the charger hit about 130 chasing it and still could go. Guy in the C6 gave up.

The Crown Vic problem is that Ford is barely producing any of them. Trust me, the seat frames are made at my plant and the orders are patheticly low.

My cousin, a 20+ year veteran TN State trooper, said that only one vehicle has ever gotten away from him. You'd be surprised what it was. Bud chased this guy on I-40 from the Dandridge (hwy 92) exit eastbound to NC. Had the speedo on his Crown Vic cruiser bouncing at 150 - and the guy was still pulling away from him! :shock:

........................It was a gold colored Taurus SHO :-s

By the way, I vouch for Sam's Escort - I've had my '93 GT to 135mph (back in my younger days) :lol:

Unless mods have been done to a factory vehicles ECU then most are governed right around 140-150.....now put a chip in and thats all changed......our jetta has had quite a bit done to it and when we lived in WA state I had it up to 140....if only it had a 6th gear it would keep on pulling but ran out of gear :cry:

The point that hasnt been made here is that no matter how fast the criminals car goes you just CANT outrun a Radio Signal.

Yeah if the police had to solely rely on speed and driver skill to catch people it would never happen. Technology always changes and police forces cannot keep up with the hot rodders or tuners when it comes to performance. If it wasn't for thier radios they would never catch someone who wanted to get away. I watched a documentary called the gumball 3000 which was a real cannonball run. They showed a guy pass a jefferson county cop on I-81 at 180mph :shock: The cop never even pulled out.

Ok was it an unmarked car cause I got pulled over a few mins ago he comes up to the window looks at my license then just starts talking to me and tells me how he just hit an owl ....??? any way no real complaints just chats to me and leaves I had no turn signal and no seatbelt on and it was next to your apt.
