POWER: GORE MANSION USES 20X AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD; CONSUMPTION INCREASE AFTER 'TRUTH'
Mon Feb 26 2007 17:16:14 ET

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:

Last night, Al Gore?s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore?s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh?more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh?guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore?s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore?s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore?s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore?s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

?As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,? said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

They are looking in all the worng places, and not contributing to several factors, also those figures cant be true. HIPPA laws would not allow them access to his power records.

Hmm, doesn't HIPAA just protect health privacy rights?

No it protects all of your information, I mean all. I just thought it was health care rights but when I took the HIPAA class 2 months ago they said that it now not only protects your health care rights but you personal information now too.

They interviewed the guy that got this info today on the radio and they asked this question. He said the amount of energy a house use's is public info, I guess they already knew where he lived...
The classic do as I say not as I do !!

hmmmm funny after he won that award he was going to give speech in washington and couldnt leave the airport because of the snow, maybe that was caused by global warming hahahhahahhahhahhahah......... wonder how much fuel the Private Jet uses flying from LA to Washington, if he's that into the enviroment maybe he should just use a slingshot. Dont get me wrong i think we should take better care of the enviroment as humans, but God is my provider and he has a reason for everything that happens on this earth.

HIPAA - HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 1996. This in no way related to your electric bill. If I am looking at buying a specific house, I can go to that power board and find out what the electric bills have been for the last 3 months, year, or 5 years.

Yup and they just reported on News Center 5 tonight about the same thing...

Yep. It's all a matter of public record.

Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says

Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet's recent climate changes have a natural?and not a human- induced?cause, according to one scientist's controversial theory.

Earth is currently experiencing rapid warming, which the vast majority of climate scientists says is due to humans pumping huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. (Get an overview: "Global Warming Fast Facts".)

Mars, too, appears to be enjoying more mild and balmy temperatures.

In 2005 data from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps" near Mars's south pole had been diminishing for three summers in a row.

Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.

"The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars," he said.

Solar Cycles

Abdussamatov believes that changes in the sun's heat output can account for almost all the climate changes we see on both planets.

Mars and Earth, for instance, have experienced periodic ice ages throughout their histories.

"Man-made greenhouse warming has made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years, but it cannot compete with the increase in solar irradiance," Abdussamatov said.

By studying fluctuations in the warmth of the sun, Abdussamatov believes he can see a pattern that fits with the ups and downs in climate we see on Earth and Mars.

Abdussamatov's work, however, has not been well received by other climate scientists.

A friend was telling me about Michael Crichton on the Charlie Rose show. Basically he, (Crichton) was saying that global warming did not exist other than normal cyclical changes that the earth has always experienced. Apparently Rose didn't want to hear that and tried to cut off Crichton at every statement but each time Crichton countered with an intelligent, logical response.
I don't know, it just seems like folks that were once in the limelight(Gore, Rosie O' Donnel  ) just seem to grab on to a straw to keep them in the public view. Right, wrong or indifferent.
I've never grasped the idea that aerosal sprays and R-12 refrigerant would be the downfall of the polar icecap.
As far as the Oscar's go, it's my understanding(I didn't watch it)that they were really struggling for things to award this year. Lesser of the evils I guess.

What gets me is that Pat Roberson and Jerry Falwell are both jumping on the "It's all our fault" band wagon. What are we to think of that?
