It seems we have a problem with people not posting in the correct forums, we have forums for tech discussion and tech questions so please use them.
This makes several warnings about this so posts made in the wrong forums will be deleted, I hate that it's come to this but the warnings and moving the threads haven't worked.

I know exactly what you mean.

Can't you just combine the two forums and make it " Tech Discussion and Questions?"
Or what I think you might be talking about is people posting questions and tech discussion in general chat?

The two are different, I would tend to look at a tech question to see if I could help before I would look at a tech discussion.
People just need to think before they post.

Do you think this will change the way people post? Is there no better way to deal with this? Maybe we should rename the forum topics.
As a side note if one of my posts was deleted without a PM I would repost assuming there was a problem and it was not saved.

I made this mistake a few days ago. Caught it after the fact and moved my question to the appropriate section. I couldn't delete the mis-post but someone took care of that for me (thanks).
I agree with YJmudder about combining those two sections. There is a lot of discussion involved in answering tech questions, and questions often come up in tech discussion. It's an easy mistake to make... but rules are rules. I'll be more careful from now on.

I say we just forget forums all together and just have one long string of comments.

I'm thinking about just converting grace to a listserve with 1 by 1 emails so everybody gets tons of spam :)

The main problem is people posting everything in general discussion, not discussion verses questions.
We don't don't need to change the forums because of people's behavior, they simply need to change their behavior. I know of a forum where the admin got tired of people posting in the wrong forum so he merged everthing into one, it's a total mess.

I used to be on the "TJ List" listserv, and before internet forums became really popular, there would be like 100 emails a day. Now I doubt there are 100 emails a year.

I don't see whats so hard about posting in the correct section. I mean it's like thinking before speaking, looking before leaping.
Like anything else in life there are rules along with a time & place for everything.
