I noticed last month that my internet speed in the evening was less that 1 meg. It's supposed to be 6 megs. I tested in the early morning and it's 6.2 megs. The problem is not at my house or I'd have the problem all the time. On 1-16 I called it in and they said they'd send someone out. I told them the details so they would know to check their end first. The guy they send out was a basic installer and verified my problem and said it was on their end and he'd have them look into it the next day. I called back a few days later and they said there was an outage and that's why it was slow. I called back a few days later to find out nothing had been done. They sent out two guys to check my house again. Again they found all my wiring and such was ok and said it was on their end. That was last month and they still haven't gotten the problem fixed. Excuses that I have heard include they couldn't get ahold of me (I have caller ID and voicemail - they didn't try) and they couldn't find my house. They have been here before and my house is easy to find. Every day I spend 30 minutes holding to speak to someone to find out what the latest excuse is. Today they said there were no notes in the system and they don't know why it wasn't done. Never once have they called me back to give me an update. To make it worse you can no longer contact the local office directly. It all goes through the call center in knoxville so they don't know what's going on.

I just got an email last night talking about the Powerboost deal on the high speed internet. When you are downloading a big file then you can spike up to 12MB down. I noticed mine was slow last night. I think they need to get some equipment up this way or something to make up for the people using it so much now. I know you can get a 10MB down/1MB up from them if you call in about it.

I found the reason why it is bad service. I've had the same problem at my house in Athens, TN. Talked to a friend he told me that the boosters are fine their end is fine, but in the cabling, the booster runs fine when you have maybe 10 to 15 households on it but when you put 50 plus thats when the speed drops. He told me that they save money by using 1 booster per 30 households and if there is more to come in well then it one booster per neighborhood. So when I first got Comcast it was fast as lightning then when more and more people tap in is becomes slower. I switched to a T1 connection, for server, hosting and it flies like crazy, I guess when that becomes clogged I will have to find another. Ahhh the interent.

A T1 is only 1.544 MB down and up. Thing is if you get a bonded line then that speed is guaranteed. But I am not paying $800-1000 dollars for a bonded T1 for my house. Glad someone can afford it.

Good point Bill, Sorry I didnt say that mine is free. Dad gets it through work. But yeah I see 800$ vs 30$ I'd go with 30$.

$30??????? Mine runs $45 + tax. and that is the ONLY price for it on Comcast here. They don't offer variable speeds really. You either get 6 or 10mb if they have it here yet.

I have yet to find an internet service better than when we lived in WA state. They took pride in that they were a totally Fiber Optic internet. Lots of big Corporate offices actually had huge servers in buildings out at the airport and did their daily backup of files there because of how cheap the service was and how fast. It was only was only 30/mo.

You might be forgetting that it says "up to" 6mb download. There is no guarantee.

Most of the day mine was about 6000. I thought maybe they had it fixed, but I just retested about 5 times and got an average speed of about 1300.
