Does anyone have a smoker, I could borrow for a weekend?
My family is having a labor day gathering. I thought I might try my hand at smoking a brisket or something.

My stepson's old scout master built one at a camp site once that was real simple and worked great. It was all concrete blocks and when they were done he un-stacked all the blocks and you never knew it was ever there.
Maybe google the design and pick up some blocks?

Found a design that seems to be real popular.... galvanized trashcan and a hot plate. Only about 50.00 in the whole setup.
There is some concern about zinc contamination. I don't know enough to say yea or nay on it.

I have an old metal tank that would make a nice smoker or I found this............

on craigslist for $75.
You might also want to go online and check-out Alton Brown from the Food network. I saw him show how to make a really cool one a while back. It was something like the trash can idea but he showed different ways like using a terra-cotta planter.
