Here's what I've got in my driveway now. I'm not sure how much is going to get done to it but it's a solid driver for the time being. I've had it for a couple of months but just now posting it up.
94 Sport, 4.0, AW4, NP231, C8.25/D30, custom painted stock alloys from an older Cherokee, etc, etc.

If things get tight enough I'll be selling more than the Jeep. It just sets there now looking pretty. When God opens the door to another job a budget boost might go on but not until then.

I just got a 96 like it. First thing we did was remove the red trim on the lower panels. It was a huge pain, but big improvment since half of it was falling off.

Nice XJ! Same year, model, drivetrain and color as mine. Just much much prettier. How many miles on it?

what are the goals for your project as of now??

Keep it running in top condition, drive it when I want to, and get groceries in it. It's not really much of a project at this point. It's just something to drive and have around as a 3rd vehicle. It will see some fire roads, etc though.

Well, I guess it's started...I just couldn't leave this thing alone. (I think I'm addicted :help:)
I started taking it apart today to get the seats out so I could vacuum under them really well, clean them up a bit, and keep driving it...

So I got it vacuumed and looking pretty good for 15 years old...

Well, we all know how the phrase "I'll just do this and be done" goes and before I knew it I was taking out trim panels...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r292/TNjeeper97/Jeep%20Stuff/94%20Buildup/100_1399.jpg
And getting the headliner out to replace the fabric on it....

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r292/TNjeeper97/Jeep%20Stuff/94%20Buildup/100_1411.jpg
And before I knew it, I was pulling the carpet up to make the Jeep more "dog friendly" i.e. easier to get the hair up and here's where I'm at as of now...
Uh oh, looks like I've bought another one with a few rust holes that I'm gonna have to fix...

Good start! I started this with mine. I need to finish pulling the carpet out of the front but Im too lazy to pull the seats and the interior at this point. How long did all this take you?
TNjeeper97
11-08-2009, 08:16 AM
2 or 3 hours. I wasn't wearing a watch and really wasn't paying attention. Less time than a televised college football game.
I pulled the seats and the console out but I didn't pull any of the lower interior trim pieces. I simply pulled the carpet out from underneath them.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do as far as the front part of the interior...I know I don't want carpet back in there so I guess some sort of bedliner material. But, I know that the PS floorboards can get a little warm due to the exhaust running on that side.

you could make a heat sheld for the exhaust. Thats what i have been thinking about doing to mine but I have to get mine driving first!!!! lol

A little warm is an understatement. I melted my wifes Teva's. Ok not totally but tehy were were gummy like good pizza cheese. She'd pick her feet up and the little strings would be coming off them. Anyway there was a company that had rubbe floors to put in. I used to have the link but not anymore. That is the way to go IMHO.

I did find replacement rubber floors available at JC Whitney. The problem is, it's getting wet inside somehow (lots of miles, 15 years old) and I believe that's what has advanced the rust in the rear. I've got some ideas for removeable floor covering that I'll be experimenting with. As I work on this, I'll take some pics.

Well, I got the headliner and the soundbar recovered. It might not be to everyone's liking, but I like it. (And that's what matters at this point, right?)
Mossy Oak camo fabric from Hancock Fabrics in JC.

I also painted the interior light housings black so that they would blend in better than gray. I've still got the visors to do but I'm out of glue at this point.
I'll get more pics when it's light outside.

I've also picked up a used 3" lift (thanks Jaybo86) that will be going on once I get some of the rust holes patched up and the interior back together (if I can wait that long).

nice job on the headliner. Not quite my style, but looks like you did a great job.
I just love those wheels. They look great painted like that. I've got a set of those same wheels sitting here at the shop. I've always liked the turbines but now seeing them painted like that, i really like them.

Nice headliner! There's a truck here in town with a full-body mossy oak wrap, which I think is a bit much. But a little camo never hurt anybody.
Please tell me that coffee can muffler next to your garage door is notgoing on the jeep.

I like the camo'd stuff!
You going to camo the outside? I think if it's done right it looks great. I hate the ones that you can tell where the pattern starts and begins.

No, not going to do the outside. I did find a set of center caps for it today.

Of course, the upper rear shock mount bolts were broken and the previous owner had someone weld the bar pins to the unibody. I removed this and after reading on the web and talking to Steve (96 coutry cherokee) decided to go ahead and remove my rear sway bar and use the axle mount for this as the upper shock mount.
My friend welded these in the upper location and then bolted the shocks back on. Works perfectly, almost like someone at Jeep was thinking ahead.
I'll get more pics of this later.
I'm still running the 235/75's and I don't think they look all that bad.

Mike - I think it's gonna stay at 3" for awhile, but the thought has crossed my mind already.
JR - I seriously doubt there will be any cutting on this one. Especially not the hatch!
Jaybo & Steve - Thanks guys, it's getting there.
Matt - They're the real close to the top of the list!

I finally got around to putting those center caps on and I decided that I really don't like them on the wheels. I think the wheels look better without them.
Oh well, I've done a few little things to this Jeep lately, I'll post up some more pics later this weekend.
