I have a 2003 Honda Recon 250. It does great and we've beat it to death with only one problem. The front brakes are awefull. First they are drum and second they have no self adjuster. Add some mud an they only last a few rides before they are useless again.

My question is can anyone point me to info on upgrading to disc brakes?

I had a Friend in big stone that did a conversion like this on a Honda rincon 650. After the conversion it would lose a set of wheel barrings every 100 miles the sealed drum brakes kept the dirt out of them.

if you want ill call him and see who made the kit?

Shawn,

i had a 2002 honda foreman 450. i put the highlifter disc brake kit on it back around 03 or 04. it was very simple to install. i know i ran it for several years. i was definitely hard on it as well. i had no problems with it either. it saw every mudhole and creek i came across.

the good thing about the highlifter kit, is that stock arctic cat brake pads work on it. so those are easy to find and replace. other than that, if i had another honda i would put this kit on in a heartbeat.

Mine is 2wd, but I am very interested in doing a conversion.

I dont think it would be to hard to make. all you would need is the brake hardware, lines, etc.

heres a pic i found of some 2wd buggies with disc brakes. maybe they can give you some ideas.

I got to thinking, would a kit from a golf cart with disc brakes work as well? heres what i was thinking. maybe using some of these parts to fab onto the atv.
