My jeep dies when going up a hill. It was running great and all of the sudden this happened. After sitting on level ground for a minute it starts right back up. Try to head up a hill again, same thing happens. It is just like you turned off the key or it runs out of gas. The engine is a 304. The fuel pump was rebuilt in March and it has a new fuel filter. Any idea what it may be?

trash in the carb
or tank problem
Try running a fuel line to a tank in the cab and see if it still happens. Might be a problem with the pick up line in the tank.

Check all of the above. I tend to think float level or gummed up causing it to stick.

What carb are you running? I would bet you need to rebuild it.

Have you tried Seafoam? Might not fix it... but an $8 can of seafoam is a cheap and easy place to start.

if you running the two barrel motorcraft carb the float may be a little high .but what is happening is that fuel is running out of your carb vent tubespilling back in te carb and flooding it .set your float a little lower and exstend the vent a little .may help a little but most carbs will always stall at steep angles .
