This is something we talked about in Harlan Sat. I found they used an air actuated pump that mechanically locks the diffs. Tru-Lock

I think the newer ones are going electric.

The TJ rubicons are air actuated and the new jk's are electric.

each axle has its own compressor aswell. They are mounted on the drivers side frame rail above the cross member.

The Rubicons lockers, and compressors for that matter are manufactured by ARB. (at least for the TJs). The commercial Hummer H3 copies (JK), may not actually be made by the same company. I dont know if ARB produces an electric actuated locker or not (dont think they do)

On TJ's they come stock mounted on the top of the tcase skid plate on the drivers side. Alot of people relocate them to the engine bay though.

I have always heard the lockers on the Rubi's are manufactured in Japan. They aren't made by ARB either.
