Man I've gotta say America is way to strung up on musicians, tv and junk. I swear you would think we got a new American President rather than an American Idol. I Turned on the news and thats the first thing they talk about.. </Rant>

The communist manifesto states that the best way to control a population is to get them focused on culture (music, tv, etc), sports (how many people know team rosters or NASCAR points than who their state legislators are) and other "stuff" rather than what liberties their Gov't is stealing from them. That pretty much sums up America where the average person knows nothing of what the Gov't is really up to, but will write a flaming email to the idol website if their favorite is booted off!
Shame on US, pun intended.

The bible talks much about Idols. To stay away from them. I think the show falls in with that starting with the name. The show is designed to take up our time several hours a week. The majority of the crowd praise the singers like a god. I think anything that takes more time from us on a basis than we allow for God is an Idol or something we worship. 1John 5:21 Just my 2 cents.

I enjoy the show because I enjoy music. I don't watch it every time or for the whole time. It came down to Chris (a Christian as George said) and Adam, an admittedly and open gay young man. So, I think America got it right. WE just don't need to be an obsession in our lives. ;)
