well i guess i will start my build up from the very begining. I started with a stock 1995 YJ with a 4 cylinder and 235s then to 31s with 4" lift Springs and a dana30 and dana35 with an manual transmission. This is what it is going to have in it
TBI Chevy 350-need one
SM465-got one
Dana 300- got one
8 lug PSD Axle 4.10s- need one
14bolt, 4.10s- have the pieces to make one
Spring over with Stock Springs-got some
and maybe some shackels or body lift havent decided
and maybe 36-38" tire- still looking?
Heres a pic of when i First got it

Looks nice man. I'm curious - how did you find a drivers drop 10bolt front axle? I thought all Chevy 10bolt fronts were passenger drop. The good 'ole NP231 needs a drivers drop front axle.

Exactly what I was thinking. All CHevy 10 bolt fronts are passenger drop, and as far as I know everything that came with a NP231 was driver drop. That wont work.

well the pictures he sent me, i looked at it the wrong way guess im gonna go with the dana 300.

Might be a better choice anyway.

Except for the adaptor kit that will have to be purchased to mate the 700R4 to the D300. More cost and usually involves changing the outpuit shaft on the trans. To do that requires and full teardown. Starting to sound $$$ I suppose if the 300 already has a fixed output then the cost of a SYE for the 231 would buy the adaptor maybe.

he's runnin a 465 manual, not an auto. though, i don't know off hand if that changes much.

well heres some pics of the front axle I am trying to get, the guy says its a 10bolt and passenger side drop, all the pictures I have looked at show the drain plug of a 10bolt on the other side and it doesn't look like a dana 44 to me, it does however look like my dana 30 off my YJ. You guys know your axles better than me, WHAT IS IT?

I made the pictures extra big so you guys could see every detail possiable the first one looks like its DSD but its upside down so any of you guys have any idea what axle this is, please no guesses, whats the diffrerence between a dana 44 and a 10bolt?in apperence?

ok nvm i found a better picture , it is a 10bolt PSD, false alarm

it makes a ton of diffrence in gearing and length but all the adapters are basically they same price, and yes you do have to tear down the whole tranmission to replace the mainshaft but im sure replacing 30 year old seals and stuff wont be a bad idea that will be the next thing I get probably after the axles.
Jeepguy16
01-17-2007, 09:09 PM
mine will have a dana 300 in it so its a little diffrent but its red so that will make them look even more alike, heres a pic of what the tranny back will look like when its completed. You see the tranny to T-case adapter that in my opinion for what it cost should be made out of gold.

Tha's why I bought a Chevy trans and t-case. The cost of adaptors alone paid for the trans and t-case instead.
Jeepguy16
01-18-2007, 03:44 PM
well that t-case wouldn't bolt up to an SM465 and from what ive heard they dont make a 4:1 kit for them. plus I like the idea of a twin stick, since the dana 300 i want doesn't have a shifter sounds pretty nice, and im going to have to rebuild my tranmission anyways

Won't a NP231C bolt to an GM NV4500 tranny?. If nothing else, you could use the 5spd & t-case from a 90's model S-10: NV3500 & NP231C - they'll handle 400ftlbs of engine torque, and can be modded to handle even more.
Jeepguy16
01-18-2007, 07:22 PM
I already have an SM465 and NV4500's cost way to much.
-I have chevy axles so no more 231, anybody want one?

I think i foudn the neddle in the hay stack, a guy called me, he has adapter from advanced adapters thats used but still thats going to be a huge step in the right direction, nows all i need is Springs and Dana 300,

Jeepguy16

well i got my axles, and some 38s with them that are in the for sale section, i need at least some 36's to go on it , if any of you have a set let me know. I have the motor mounts just need to figure out someone in Bristol that will put them in for me, the only problem is the jeeps in my garage and it has no motor or anythign in it. If any of you know of someone that could do it let me know. They are the advance adapters weld in kind. Well im still in search of a dana 300 and a 4.10 gears for a 14bolt? anyone? hopefully i will have the adapter next month. But i guess i could take some pictures next time im home.

Well axles are here, Tranny rebuild kit is here, and a bonus the spring over was set up for a CJ7, measured it up today and its the same as my yjs. So i wont have to get them rewelded, put the motor mounts on motor just have to get the frame brackets welded in.
Still need
-Radiator
-Headers
-Adapter from SM465 to Dana 300
-Short Dana 300
-Driveshafts
-Leaf Springs
Here are pics.

Well I have not updated in a little while so I figured I would let all you guys on what I have done. I have my 305, sadly not a 350, new plugs, headers(advance adapters) wires, distributor cap rotor, new temp sensor, new oil pressure sender, fuel filter, motor mounts(advance adapters) etc, I also got an engine harness and ran it threw my steering column so I can use my stock ignition switch. I want to eventually want to run propane but will run gas for now along with a small cam or a totally new engine. I got my SM465 finished with the Dana 300 adapter along with a fresh complete bearing and synchronizer ring kit and a new transmission mount. I still need to get either twin sticks or a stock shifter. I got my hydraulic clutch kit from Novak and put a little paint on it to prevent it from rusting. I received my radiator from advance adapters, and then got the cap and hoses, thanks to the guys at Napa. I want to thank those guys for working with me and my parts for my engine swap instead of drawing a blank when I tell them I am putting a v8 in my jeep. I have some stock springs I got of TOR and plan to use a SOA and 2" lift Shackles with they 4" drop pitman arm I already have, I am just going to use my 4" lift shocks until I can scrape together some shocks.
I still need to buy some spring perches before I put the axle and motor in. I want to try and get a disk brake kit for the 14bolt. I will still have to run fuel, clutch and brake lines maybe. After I get the driveline assembled I will order some 1 ton drive shafts. Then do something with steering... not really sure what i want to do with that yet.
I still have a front 10bolt and 38s on 15x10s lingering in my garage if any of you are interested. I may trade it for one with 3.73s that is welded instead of the 4.10s it currently has.
I am getting some gauges after I get it finished too along with putting some TJ flares on it that I am getting for free from a friend.
I have been working on this phase of the build up collecting parts and working afternoons after work for about year and a few weekends when I get to come home from school.
Here are a few pictures of some of the new parts but not many, more will come if I get the driveline assembled before I head back to school.

well i decided i am gonna try and find another 4.10 14bolt rear end instead of going with 3.73s since i will be driving this often. Anyone have one they would trade me for one with 3.73s in it in pretty decent condition?
Got twin stick kit for dana 300, looking for a 32spline rear output... Trying to get some driveline things worked out and still looking for someone to put it all in being that i cant weld and wouldnt know where to start in lining up a drive line/train.......maybe some pics if i ever get the project off the ground.

Well i have got the starter motor mostly together
new plugs
wires
headers
fuel pump
distributor
all hoses and belts, thanks to napa
the few wires needed wired to ignition
radiator mounted
hydraulic clutch kit
transmission is rebuilt along with the dana 300 adapter ready to bolt in
transfer case seems to be in working order
Still looking for a front axle and tires and wheels and someone to do some fabrication but that will have to wait until this summer.
