Im getting ready to order new meats and I was wondering what the experiences are on and off road. I drive my Jeep on the road ALOT(everyday) and I want something thats going to last awhile. My choices are down to A. Trxus, which I know are a good tire, but the tread life on them from what I have read is only about 15-20 thousand
B. Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. I have read that they wear relatively well with everyday on road use, and do very well offroad.
I know that there are a few on here who run the trxus and will vouch for them. I want a tire that performs well offroad, but will last for on road use, and behave itself while on asphalt as well. There may be other suggestions, but Im buying these as a package and for the money, these are the two options I have.
Whadda think.

We usually see about 25k or so out of the Claws, just make sure you rotate often because if they start to wear funny they will get very ruff as the tread gets uneven. Mickey Thompson is having a special till June 30th, they are giving $75 back for smaller than 35" and $100 back for 35" and up. Ever checked out the MTZ from Mickey Thompson?

Yeah, I like the MTZ, but Im getting my tires at no interest, no payments for 12 months, and they dont offer the MTZ in a package.

Sounds like a good deal then, who has that on offroad tires?

I've never put many miles on a set, but I've heard several people who were unhappy with the performance of their claws. That said I hope to get a set of 46's for the buggy one day.

I run claws and I have been very happy with their performance offroad. There is a nice little hum while driving but nothing even close to the effect of swampers. I've only been running them for about 5,000 miles so im not sure on the longevity yet. Before I got them I spoke with a few different people and was told to expect around 35,000. I'll be surprised with adequate rotations if a a tire with this type of tread will get 35 though.

Yeah, 35 sounds like a long shot.

Pro Comp X Terrain. I bought mine from Nick 2- ish years ago and they have plenty of tread left.

I've ran thru 2 full sets of Claw radials (1 set of 33's then 1 set of 35's) on my wifes Xterra. Strictly street use in our family ride. It saw a trip to Chicago once a year among other traveling as well as DD duties. I got about 40K miles on both sets. I also rana set of 35" Claw Radials on my Jeep for many years. Again street duty for DD and off road as well. I was always very pleased with them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

I ran the claws (35's) for a little while. they did about the same as my BFG muds off road but were louder on the street. I didn't have them long enough to know milage but i've heard lots of people saying they didn't get good life out of them. Mine were passed around from one person to the next so lots of people got some use out of them. (tirediron, thumpzilla, bluegill, me, then traded them to a guy on NC4x4 for my iroks)
