Give it time. Maybe you were called just to plant a seed, but not water or watch it grow.

When you witness to someone who doesnt know Christ, theres always a rasp response. Almost like a doctor telling a smoker they have to quit smoking, a drinker they have to quit drinking, or a person with high cholesterol to quit eatin cheeseburgers. If Christianity were easy, everyone would be doing it!!

ridgecrawler, bless your work - Pirate is probably one of the most difficult places to witness, all the more reason to do so.
Witnessing in a manner which will reach folks takes different fashion. Using Pirate as the example, a very low-key approach may get someone to listen more.
As has been said, it is not easy.

In places like that your witness is not what you say but how you live or conduct yourself over a period of time. Just blurding out about Jesus on Pirate isn't going to get the desired response.
Matt 7:6 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

Aaron is dead on the money when he said "if christianity was easy, everyone would be doing it."
MudHunter is also correct. Sometimes its our job to just "plant the seed" and move on and sometimes it works out to where we can actually see the fruit of our labor.
(the others must have been typing while I was)
Think back to before you had a relationship with Christ. Did you just act like you were really interested, tell them to leave you alone, or did you stop and listen to what they were saying and take it to heart and change right then and there. I can remember earlier in life where people would tell me about Jesus and what He did for me on calvary. I pretty much just acted like i was listening and then moved on with my sinful life. It wasn't until many many years later when I felt the presence of the Lord and the conviction on my heart to come to know Him personally. Now i can look back and see that they were only looking out for my best interest but at the time I didn't want to hear it.
Give it time. I get alot of the same responses on other sites i'm on but hopefully one day atleast one of them will turn thier heart towards Jesus. I can think back to one instance over on NC4x4 where just about everyone seemed to be against everything I was saying. I couldn't let it get to me. I said all I knew to say and had to leave it at that.
Remembering bible verses or even being able to find them when I need to isn't one of my strong points, but i'm sure someone here can point you in a good direction of finding some insperational verses to help you in your witnessing ministry.
Stay strong and pray for those who are lost.
Hope my rambling helps some.

I've tried it on Pirate before and didn't go well either. I save my energy for people I can see and influence locally.

Let your WALK & your actions & GODS LOVE pouring out of you be your wittness. And like George said, over a period of time.

Wow George I have to say that scripture mirrors what has happened to me on Pirate before and what I have seen happen to so many others there. The site really lives up to its name in the way that most of the membership conducts itself.
Ridgecrawler- I commend you for your conviction and for you trying to witness on a site like pirate. Don't get discouraged you have received alot of good advice above and just keep walking the walk and plant the seed whenever you can.

Thanks Guys!
I tell ya man it is a tough task! I've been on a few 30 + page threads on jeepforum.com and it gets down right frustrating at times. If there was a blessing I received from it, it was diving into the scripture for answers, and enjoying all the time in the word. The biggest problem is, you never get a one on one discussion with an individual, you always get the peanut gallery jumping in and causing a ruckus!
As always we are here when you need us, let us know if there is anything we can help you with...!

Exactly! I think witnessing online is harder than doing it in person. It's not like a one-on-one discussion where you can get deep and find out what someone's struggle is. Once you start to scratch the surface, you get blind-sided with ignorance and hateful chatter from everyone else on the thread.
I used to try it on the paintball forum I used to mod for. What little success I had involved making a comment about my faith, and then inviting people to PM me if they wanted to talk about it further. Its easier to have a one-on-one via private messages, without all the distractions and chatter.
Best of luck. Just remember to keep praying for the people you try to reach. You can only do so much with the seeds you plant. Then its in God's hands (through your prayers) to water them and help them grow.

I haven't read all the post on here yet cause I wanted to voice my opinion without sway from others.
I try and witness to some guys when I fly. Its a one on one situation and tends to be a lil more comfortable. I try subtleties. Kinda mention something (The seed method) ok I read a little. See what happens. Probably better to wait for a question. Can kinda set up a statement to draw interest.
Now when it comes to Pirate, you could probably use your signature as a good way to witness. Hope I didn't repeat to much and sound like an idiot. LOL

And remember the Jesus said when you witness to others and find resistance, you are to shake the dust from your feet(I'm paraphrasing). Just remember that when you leave, you've left a seed behind.

If I can throw my .02 in here, pray, pray, pray before posting anything. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words to say. But just as important pray for the ones that will be reading your post, He may be drawing someone and you have the words to deliver to them. Your most effective witness is to those you know and live God's love to. I would never say don't witness on pirate, but I would say do it prayerfully. And remember if people flame you for your witness, it is Christ they are flamming, and you are in good company if you are persecuted for Christ's sake. Be encouraged, let your post stand, and pray the LORD directs people who are in a place in their lives to be receptive to it to find and read and for the rest, that is between them and the LORD.
