Hey Guy's,
Kelly and I are looking for a new church. We did not feel like where we were going was where we needed to be and unfortunately just stopped going a few months back. It's a wonderfull chuch, we just didn't feel like we "fit in".
we Live in Church Hill, So Kingsport area, and although I don't think anybody has it exactly right, we are Baptist ( at least Kelly is, Iv'e bene to every kind of chuch out there I believe ) Niether one of us is on our first marriage ( that seems to be a problem in some places :( ) and we have three kids, so a good program for them is very important to us.
Let me know where you go and more importantly WHY you go there.
thanks,
Greg

I would love to find the "right" church but I'm afraid it's just not out there today, many have good worship but no discipleship, or compromise the scriptures to make everyone comfortable.
I have two classes at my church that are awesome but everything else is kind of dead, the classes where we tear apart the word and learn more about Jesus and what He has made available to us is so exciting that I can barely stand it.
What you really need is to get into a strong bible study class so you can grow, your never going to grow just going to the Sunday morning service.

George, I really enjoyed your class, and should not have let other factors get in the way of comming, and I didin't mean to. I just didn't feel like even walking in the door, although i've bene in the ROC a dozen times for this and that.
We could just hold class in your garage. :icon_mrgreen:
I DO feel a serious need to get back into church though.

Why don't you and Kelly just start coming to our Sunday School and Wednesday night class? Remember the Luke chapter 7 scripture I posted a few days ago? That explains why some people are so holier than thou.

and nothing against Higher Ground, but I like a small cozy church, and I get lost in that place. It's just crazy big...

George is right, the perfect church doesn't exist. My buddy has started a wed. night study class at our church and it makes all the difference.
Just feel privilaged to be "able" to try different churches. Not that i'm locked in or anything, but when you run the sound board one service and play drums the other service its kind of hard to just try out other places.

I'm not looking for the perfect church, I just don't want to feel judged while I'm there. I'm not perfect and don't think a church should want me to be. I TRY but I fail along with the rest of us.

We should strive to be Holy as God is Holy because of what he has done for us, but I know what you mean. But as people look down on me for my pass I just praise Jesus that I know the Truth and that man's righteousness is as filthy rags to God and the only righteousness He accepts is the righteousness that came from Jesus dieing for my sin and raising from the grave so I could be risen to a new life and life more abundantly!
So when you feel judged by man remember that if your born again you are under no man's judgement and more than likely the one judging probably knows nothing of God's grace.
1 Cor 2:15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:
James 4:12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you-- who are you to judge your neighbor?

:help: George I totally agree with your statements but I however do not understand the first scripture you posted. Could you please explain that?

Greg, I also agree with George that a good Bible study will allow you to grow more than a Sunday morning sermon. That is the downfall with our church is that instead of an actual bible Study on Wed. nights they often study out of workbooks. This can be good at times but a workbook can never be as good as The Book. So I too would like to find a good Bible Study Group close to home since I have to get up at 5am every morning.

The first scripture means that if you are born again and have the Holy Spirit in your heart, it will enlighten you about situations where you need good judgment (important decisions) The Holy Spirit (which teaches us through the bible, and helps us remember when we need it) and we rely on our worldly (man's) judgment then we get in trouble.

That's the problem with most Churches. They often forget that we all are sinners and fall short of the glory of God. What happened to forgiveness? I recall something about "glass houses and throwing stones".

Plug in get involved, maybe a spark from a couple of hungry Jesus lovin' Bible thumpin' 4 wheelers can start a revival. Most of all, PRAY for where you are going. God can shake the bad apples out of the trees, and sometimes He makes real good apple sauce when they hit the ground and start rollin'.

i go to West View Baptist Church in Kingsport. turn up by walgreens on stone dr. we have an AWANA program for toddlers through 12th grade on wed starting at 6:30pm. Pastor Mike Stout. it's a good Church and doesn't try to compromise the truth for popularity. i have a TREK (7th & 8th grade) class in the AWANA program and your children are more than welcome to come anytime. i can't tell you how you and your wife will feel here, God will let you know when you get where he wants you. i can tell you it's a good Church with a pastor that sincerely stands for God, his church, it's people. if you ever want to visit, let me know and i can meet you and maybe help with the awkwardness of a new place.

hey not from kingsport but one of my fav all time best pastors is now preaching in Kingsport at Gravely Baptist. Smaller church etc very home oriented the last time I visited. It is off Lynn Garden drive. This man is a true man of God and really and truely lives for Christ!!!!! I just can't say enough about him and his love o9f the lord and his outwardly affection for doing the Lord's will and work while here on earth.
On the other hand if y9ou would like to drive some come visit us at Cherokee Methodist in Johnson City.. We have two services and ALWAYS ALWAYS kids stuff goings ons!!!!
good luck and praying that God will send you where you and your family can be used to benefit the kingdom of God.
