In reference to the bumper height laws, you guys need to move to a different set of mountains. Here in Oregon we have perhaps the most lenient lift law in the country. If your tires stick out you have to have fender flares and you have to have mud flaps. Other than that, you are allowed 54 in. from the ground to the center of your headlights. Wanna push the gauntlet, simply lower your headlights. If you don't think 54 in. is very high, throw a tape measure on it.

Ya I have noticed TN to be fairly lax about most things auto related compared to the other many states I have lived in...Kinda like it

If TN enforced any vehicle requirements, the unemployment rate would go up.

Anybody remember when the only TN requirements were windshield wipers, headlights, & turn signals? Hope I'm not the only one

I have had to use them when I busted my turn signals.
Kinda reminds me of a joke. Stop me if you've heared this one.
Two police officers are driving in their cruiser waiting for some one to pull over. Every one that drove by, always did the speed limit, always had their seat belts buckled, and never ran the light or stop sign near by.
After a while of being bored the police officers noticed an older fellow driving carefully. He was driving just under the speed limit. When he turned, he used not only the turn signals but his HAND SIGNALS.
The police officers were so impressed with the old man's driving that they pulled him over anyways to compliment him. The old man slowly rolled down the window and politely asked if he had done anything wrong. The Police officers said no and that they liked how he was driving and how he used the correct hand signals. And with that said the old man replied "Well of course, you have to drive carefully when your drunk."
Man I can't belive I just typed all that up.

So back to the subject...
I bet Shawn's Bronco is closer to 64" to the headlights. My Heep is 48" to center of headlights and the Xterra and blazer are both about 46" or so. To my knowledge there is no tire coverage law in TN so we don't have to worry too much with fenders or mudflaps.

I thought we had the 3" or more had to be covered?

Maybe. I've just not seen it in writting yet. I have seen all of the section where it talks about bumper heights, frame height measured in line with the steering wheel, no welding on steering links, I've been over the all of trailer laws. I've never seen anything mentioned about tire coverage but I could have missed it.

I have never read it either. Just always heard it.

I haven't had any problems yet, and I have zero tire coverage on the front and very little on the back.

Headlights can't be more than 44 inches high, while taillights reach their legal limit at 72 inches in Colorado

I don't believe they enforce the windshield wipers too much either. I've known some guys with mini trucks that were slammed, that didn't have them and just used a lot of RainX.
