This Sunday is the training at Appalachian Caverns with Don's caving group. This will be a great oppertunity to learn from the masters. As I understand it (Don please correct me if I'm wrong) this will be focused on ascending devices as opposed to just grabing a handful of rock and taking off. There will also be a short line set up to introduce kids and maybe some inexperianced adults to some rappeling.

If you want in on this post up.

Aaron I know you can't do much if anything for a while yet but you can learn alot from listening and watching plus it might be a good time for Tamara to learn to belay.

EDIT
I just talked to Don and no one will be allowed on rope untill you go through some classroom training that will be held at Appy Caverns on Saturday at 5pm and again on Sunday at a time yet to be determined. The problem with the Sunday class is there may be no time to play on the ropes after it is over. We need to plan on a trip Saturday for the Class and again Sunday for the ropes. I know that this is more troublesome but the info that we will be getting is very valuable and well worth the extra trip. I am going and ain't nobody (but my wife) gona stop me so if anyone wants to ride with me just let me know. I will make as much room as we need.

You can bring equipment, but we will have everything you will need. Part of doing these training sessions is so people can try out systems before they buy anything. Caving does use some different gear than rock climbing, but most of it can be adapted back and forth.
