Well I think there may have been some mix ups on dates.
This weekend (1/31 and 2/1) there is no climb planed however I can't go. I have promised my girls I would take them to do some rappeling if I can find some place with a good short drop to teach them on.
Next weekend (2/7 and 2/8) is the training with Don's group
The following weekend (2/14 and 2/15) is Backbone although I thought that this was originaly planned (when we were at Blue Hole) for this Sunday 2/1

I'll try to make it to Climbmax when everyone goes.
What we will do will be different from rock climbing. Any climbing we do will be rope ascending using climbing systems. The good part is when we all fry our fingers at Climbmax, it won't be as bad as if we were gripping rocks.
Our training session has been postponed until Feb.22. I thought I had posted the change, but maybe I didn't.
If anyone wants to bring their kids, we can get them on rope too. We set up a short little rappel thats only maybe 6-8' to let very small children see what it feels like.

That sucks Daniel but it's still a week away so if things change we would rather have you there. Since Aaron and his crew are driving down in his car, and Daniel and Lacy aren't going then I,m not planning on taking the van unless some more people chime in. If Don gets to go then maybe we can ride together, I have the Endevor (seats 4 to 5) and the Expedition (seats 5 to 7). If i'm on my own the I might take the bike.
Don do you think that Bill might go if you get to go?

Bill is going to go with us. He has never been to a climbing gym and he loves to climb, so it will be an experience for him. Two more people could ride with us, or we can car pool with someone else.
Aaron - can you rub the bottoms of your rock shoes together and make them stick to each other?

Explain "dynamic" and "static" in the context of rope, please.
TIA
Adurbin
02-06-2009, 02:57 PM
Dynamic rope has an elastic like core that will stretch a bit and absorb shock in a hard fall. Static has no stretch at all and is used more for rappelling.

I have plenty of dynamic rope also. I have enough rope for all of us to use, both dynamic and static. I probably need a day in the gym before I did any rock climbing anyway.

Bill and I will not be able to make it.
Some people with a champion coon dog, called us to help rescue the dog out of a cave. We worked late last night and we're very close to getting to the dog. He chased an animal into a very small hole that dropped into a room and he couldn't get back out. He's still barking, but he's been trapped for a week today, so we've got to go back here in a few minutes. Have fun, wish we were with you guys today.

Whats up with the pink and yellow "tags" on the grips?
scubawinger
02-08-2009, 12:33 PM
the differant colors indicate legal routes that you can take to reach the finish grip at the top. In sport indoor climbing you are only aloud to touch the grips indicated for that route. If I understood correctly you also have to use all of the holds indicated for the climb to be legal. I can assure you that I did not make even one legal climb:icon_mrgreen:. The routes are graded by difficulty by using dots placed on the starting hold 1-5 one being the easiest (still impossible for me) and five being nearlly imposible for even the best climber.
