Cast is brittle and if you bump it it will crack - break while the stock steel covers will dent and still not leak. these would be nice for mild wheelin or for the custom look and the price is good. DIY HAS A GOOD PRICE FOR COVERS IN BOTH WELDED & YOU WELD IT UP KITS.

I've got one like it (cast steel - but different brand) on the front of my buggy. I have beat without mercy. There are huge gashes in it, but no cracks.

Cast iron is brittle, but cast steel is not. The pumpkin of your axle along with most other parts of your axle is cast steel. I didn't read the details, but most companies have a lifetime warranty.

I've got the Rockcrusher (exact same cover as Solid) covers f/r on my YJ and they've been subjected to anything but light wheeling. I'm always slamming them into things, not a single crack. The front one leaks slightly because the heads of the bottom couple bolts are ground down from rocks. It makes they're hard to tighten because you can't keep a wrench on them.

Thanks for the input.. oh and by the way replacing them bolts will make them easier to tighten and help stop the leaking!!! ;)
Merry Christmas all.

The covers are nodular Iron and have a lifetime warranty. I beat the hound out of them in my Jeep and they are tough. That is a good price on a quality piece of protection. I can assure you that they are the beef. You will not break them without damaging a whole lot of other stuff first....
