I have XM myself and have to be very conscious of what channel it is on(classic rock usually) when jake is in the truck. It is unscensored and they say whatever comes to mind.Tonya has it in her car as well but mostly listens to the Disney/kids channels.

they do. this channel will let one things slip but that one crossed the line. they are not under FCC regulation, i guess since it's a service I pay for. I'm just glad one of the kids were not with me. problem is this happened at 8 am. how many kids do you think heard that nationwide?

I have the Sirius only because it came with the vehicle for free for a year. I have only found about 2 Christian Channels on that thing. I think Channel 65 and 66. I dont care at all for their Stations for the very fact of to many curse Bombs flying around most of them. Mywifes car had the XM also free but only 3 months til it expired and they kept calling here constantly after we told them everytime please do not contact us. As a matter of fact we still get a call ever so often. I dont care for either of the companies.

Didn't XM and Sirius "merge"?

Sirius and XM have merged and its a service you pay for...thus your choice to listen to it. So....not taking sides or anything but its simple.....if you dont like what you hear, dont listen to it. The main reason sat radio has become as big as it has is because of the freedom and lack of censorship that is required and so strict on AM/FM channels. No one is holding a gun to your head saying "You need to pay for Sirius and then listen to it";)

I realize nobody makes me listen. Usually I like listening, it's not all bad. All I wanted was an "oops we goofed". I'll listen to channels that don't have that stuff till March (that's when I'm payed up to) and let it go. I wish someone had told me they said anything that came to mind and didin't care if someone (hopefully a bunch of someones, in this case) didin't like it. Just wanted you guys to know how some people act on there in case you were pondering getting the service.
as always, thanks for your insight.

I understand about the kids hearing it. I try to watch what the kids listen to. We also dont have a TV hooked to anything but a DVD player. No rabbit ears or anything. One of hte best things we've done. And when wheeling I ask that people keep the language down, most are respectful of this, not all and I can't change those people.
Honestly my kids hear most of the language on the bus to and from school. Yes elementary school. 1st and 4th grades (I won't even mention the middle school duagther here). What we have done as parents is us the opportunities to educate our kids. Talk about what is bad about the words. I try to protect them as much as I can, however I can't protect them from everything.
Teaching them about what God Word says about taking his name in vain is very important.

The main reason is that you can get channels on there that reg radio dont play.Who else has stations just for music from the 40's.Nobody around here.

I still cant bring myself to pay for radio. My mother and father have it, and I never really liked it that much. Although on long trips, it is great. Around town, id rather have my few local channels to listen to. And they dont say words like that. Well none that ive ever heard on 96.9

My XM is also a MP3 player.I'm not tryin to justify it to anybody, judge me however you want,I like it and dont have a problem payin less than $20 a month for the service for two.People spend more than that a day on beer and cig's.I just know which channels to stay away from.

i listen to wnox 100.3 talk radio. i don't listen to music unless its ole rock and roll or country
I'm more concerned with today's issues than music. this station will tell you like it is plain and simple.
and my kids are finding out about the real world instead of just our little world at home ,school and the issues that our country is facing
they don't like to listen to it but its better than today popular music(head banging, rap, goth ,devil worshipping music and what ever else they want to call it)

Easy on the "Don't judge me" stuff, no one is judging anybody for having sat radio...there's nothing any worse on it that isn't on our cable TV. It's just preference, if it was oh say $5.00 a month I would probably get it but my CD player plays mp3z and I have over 150 gigs of them so I basically have my own commerical free radio.

I have Sirius and love it ! I do a lot of driving so it is definetly worth the 12 measley bucks to not have to listen to commercials. I really take advantage of it when I am near the Tri Cities as they have some of the worst radio stations I have ever heard Imo. I rarely ever hear a dj say anything out of the way,I think you must have been listening to some head banging stuff or something.
