I may be up for this depending on if I get my bump stops adjusted. The front stops got into the springs on both sides but worse on the drivers side at Stoney Creek at some point when it was flexed and bent them and the drivers side keeps catching on the spring making an awfull noise. I hope to get that fixed this week. Hopefully I can get this done in time.

The only spot that you may have trouble with steve is Jeepster spot. I will let the others fill you in on what that is.

If it's dry, Jeepster can be done with 31" - IF your rig has plenty of flex ;)

Exit 37 is the SR81 exit in Erwin by Mickey D's - go about 4 miles, and Bumpus Cove Rd is the left just over the Noli River.

Tiny
09-24-2008, 08:12 PM
Im unloading across from Mickey D's and going to eat breakfast that morning about 8:30-9:00 and leave around 9:30 for the culdesac if anyone wants to join me.

Lol my one free weekend a month and I already plans, imagine that. I have to compete in the Highland Games in Chattanooga at The Culture Festival.
Bumpus can be done no lockers, 30 inch 10.50s BFG All Terrians, no lift, sway bar disconnected. Stock 99 TJ Wrangler I made it all the way through, even did the StairSteps, didnt need a winch last time to get up SlickRock.. Yeah I even remember doing the trenches. I love going back through the old pics.

You guys have fun Ill have to catch the next one. I am hoping to get more weekends of here shortly. But by the time work lets me have weekends, I will probably be on the Border, running the illegals back into Mexico.

The Lord provided a fantastic day to visit Bumpus. Madame was gentle today - one minor bit of carnage, but I'll let that tale be told by others.

We met at the cul-de-sac, chatted a bit, then blessed the ride, and off we went.

No one was interested in the first mud hole - little water and lots of muck today.

The Jeepster spot barely slowed us up, then on to Slick Rock. Here we had the usual round of fun. Inspite of some slippery going, everyone made it up on their own power - no straps today. However, I believe a couple vids will turn up with some tires frying. :icon_mrgreen:

We took a break at the Lunch Spot and after some socializing, Don decided to take the JK up the steps. After a few valiant tries, it was deemed better to retreat than bust up a new vehicle. Maybe next time, Don. Like usual, I chickened out on those steps.

On to the trenches. Here's where we had a minor trail rearrangement. We'll let Jeff explain that. Otherwise we flexed our way to the top, turned left and stopped for the photo op.

We said our goodbyes and buzzed on down the fire road, ending the day at about 5:00 pm

Great day, everyone - and good job to some Bumpus first-timers - a lot of good wheeling today. Thank you, Lord!

Folks here it is tire frying at its best. :kewl:
That was a first for me. Last time I heard a tire crackel like that, it was a fire. All said and done it was a great ride. I guess they don't call it slick rock for nothing. That was my second trip up Bumpus and my 6th wheelin' trip ever.
Great time, Great time.

I have really enjoyed all the pictures and videos taken by everyone. Thanks to all - some great shots. I sure want to make the steps sometime, but I want to crawl it and not bash my way up. It was fun trying them. The pictures sure show me how much lower I could go with the tire pressure, and I know I need more wheeling experience. It looks so easy in the pictures. I especially wanted to thank everyone who spotted. You guys are awesome, and have kept me dent free so far. Had fun and looking forward to Harlan!

Just keep in mind that if you are faced with a burn out contest, use a set of Cooper STT's they make great tire smoke. "WARNING: MAY NOT BE E.P.A. FRIENDLY"
