My Mom

PLease pray for my Mom. She's a really good natured Chritstian woman who has recently taken in her man friend of 30 years. He had a stroke a couple of months ago and cannot do for himself anymore. His family has shunned him including his kids and want nothing to do with him. The only next step is to put him in a home which he desperatly fears for obvious reasons. My Mom really really didn't want him in her home, but it has come to the point where she is cout in the middle and had no choice. She is working desperatly now to try and get him into a place of his own, although she will still have to care for him, at least it wont be in her house.

To make matters worse, my Mom just found out sha has cancer in a limp-node in her neck. Next week she will begin radiation and kemo treatments which obviousley will take it's toll on her. She's in a really bad place right now with her own medical problems on top of her already hectic pace trying to care for John and take care of his situations. She desperatly needs some help and prayer right now. My sister and I are doing all we can to help her out, but it would be so much easier if John was out of her home and out of her care. I'd rather have her at my house or my sisters house where we can better taker care of her and in a cleaner environment, but that's not a good option with John in her house.

Please say a quick prayer for my Mom today. She begins the Kemo and Radiation treatments today.

A quick update on the boyfriend situation. My brother was able to get in touch with Department of Human Services last week and update them on the new situations, in that my Mom now has health problems of her own and John living in Mom's house is no longer a viable option. DHS did a great job in finding him assisted living quarters VERY quickly. His social worker spoke with Johns brother and was told John did have furniture including a bed, dresser, dinning room table, etc that we could pick up on Friday and move him in to his new place. Long story short, brother Tom flat out lied to DHS and the only thing he had for John was clothing, linens, a TV and VCR, and a fouton mattress, no frame just a mattress. It was obvious John who uses a walker was not going to be able to sleep on the floor on this mattress and he had no funriture of any kind, not even a chair to sit in. Alot of prayer Friday afternoon and God blessed us with gifts on Saturday. Georgann and I went yard-selling Saturday morning in search of what John needed. Within 1/2 mile of our house, we scored a fouton frame, a brad new microwave, a dinning room table and chairs all for $59. My sister was able to find a full size mattress and box springs for free which actually fit on the fuoton frame perfectly to serve as a true bed and at a normal height perfect for John to get into and out of. My Mother-in-law also donated a recliner for the living room so now thanks to prayer and God working thru so many people, we were able to set John up with everything he needs by Saturday afternoon. From nothing to everything in 24 hours. God is Awesome!!

Only things remaibning, and these are not absolute necessities, is one end table and one night stand. If anyone has either of these and you'd like to donate to the cause pleas let me know and I'll be glad to come pick them up (semi local to Kingsport of course. Doesn't make since to drive two hours for a $10 table). A lady at Moms church has donated a loce seat which I will pick up later this week.
