View Full Version : M&G Ride Oct 11th (Rocks)

OK we've got a real treat for the rock loving crowd this year. Jeff and David (250Cows) have been gracious enough to let us come ride at Chinquapin Off-road park on the 11th. This place is rock crawling at its best. This is about an hour east from George's farm.

Cage and Belts required to ride. Lawn chairs recommended to watch.

Also there are some very nice waterfalls and swimming holes (el-rod falls) about 5 miles from chinquapin so depending on the weather it could make for some enjoyable family fun.

Sign up here so we can get an idea on who's going.

It's pretty much a spectator area (big playground of rock).

I hope to be there but as a spectator/picture taker. What is the plan for arrival (time, meeting place)

We normally show up around 9 am or so at the park. I figure the majority of us might meet in kingsport and convoy down 11w to mooresburg then over the mtn to sneedville which means we will need to leave by 7:45ish.

scubawinger
10-01-2008, 10:08 PM
Well I need a convoy to follow so just name the place. My knowledge of Kingsport is limited to I-26 to Times News:tongue3:

How about somewhere on 11W?

We wanna meet at the old mountaineer or food lion or something on 11w? Say 7:30-8:00 rolling out by 8:05?

George stood his on it's nose. After a monent with the brake pedal the rear came down. Eventually he decided to go forward with it. I had a problem with my front driveshaft and quit the day early. Several others had monir problems also, but it's right by the field and is so easy to load up from. I didn't take any pics.

Thanks for coming and enjoying the rocks, we had a great time. Great climb for Redman 30_06. Sorry George for scaring you on the nose dive -- Alan Rich climbed your passenger side of that rock, which was exceptionally steeper on Sun. after about 5 tries, and Eric Chidress backflipped off of it.
Oh yeah, thanks for all the M&G leftovers that was great -- there was still buns left over.
May ride again on Nov.15th.

By the end of the day I was beat. My rig is showing a few battle scars as well. It's like Brad and I were talking about, it would take about 3 days at Harlan to hit that many obstacles.

It was a great time. I can't wait to get back out that way. Who ever made the sweat tea that we used to put the fire out on mine sure had a lot of sugar. It smells like burning caramel when the block gets hot.

I was noticing there were a couple of XJ's there. So does this mean that if your vehicle has a top you can ride here. I thought a while back they had stated that your rig had to have a cage to ride.
