A few of us went to Harlan this weekend and broke everything we had. I broke a rear axle on Little Jagger in the first 15 minutes on the park and was down until latter that night when Chris Allen brought me an axle

Then an hour or so after that Brandon broke the rear window out and ripped the upper link mounts off his rear axle at the top of the middle rock garden. Iit took us a few hours to rig it together and get it off the mountain.

Then on Saturday Andy broke a front spring driving the axle back and breaking the adapter between the trans and transfer case. After that Ben broke a high steer arm into :icon_eek:

Rob Lacey was the only one that didn't break...well almost, he did break a tail light.

Even with all this breakage this was one of the best rides I've had, we had a great time of fellowship and really got to relax after a very hectic week.

Yeah, Thanks to George my Dad and Brother we managed to limp it back to camp. I'll have to say George is the man on the offroad rigging. It seemed to get alot less stressfull when we got him there.

He is a rather handy guy to keep around.

I just wish you would have waited until I got there to rip that thing all to pieces. :tongue3:

Here's my carnage pics from the weekend.

The scary thing is if you look at the first pic it looks like the stud has been broke for a while. :icon_eek: It's already rusty.

I had a blast!! It was unfortunate that everyone had issues, but with this being my first trip there, I was still not disappointed. I got to see alot of the park, went up Rail Bed, Lower Rock Garden, and another rock section up Whitetail, the rest of the time we just checked things out. We watched a group from Ohio go through the Lion's Den, this was a treat in it's self. After airing back up, I made it home around 11:30 that night. I think I was in the Jeep for around 13 to 14 hours. Next day inspection of my Jeep did however add a few damaged parts to the list but not anything serious.
Valve steam, Center cap, Rear shock, and the already mentioned tail light.
But fun was had that day, so no worries! Can't wait to go back!!!

I would have never thought it possible to break a high steer arm.:icon_eek: Those 4 squirrels never cease to amaze me.:tongue3: Kinda makes you wonder how that tierod you broke at Graceland held together as long as it did.

There dose not seem to be a lot of material in the area that it broke. Do you know who made them?

Hokie_YJ
08-28-2008, 10:56 PM
Yeah there wasn't much material there at all, it was definitely a weak spot. The arm was on the axle when I got it.

i lost a high steer arm this weekend.......sheered the front bolt and the other two worked lose.......the arm i am using is an inch thick so im not worried about it breaking........the bolts sure dont like it though
