as of right now I'm goin up Thursday evening. We(RRORC group) have a cabin rented. The only thing that might hold me up till Friday morn is helping my buddy finish his rig up. We're gonna wheel all day friday for sure.

yeah you def don't want that motor giving you trouble up there. Getting stuck on the side of the mtn is no fun.

talking about the flooding at super steep angles? um nope. you really think that I would have that much trouble?

There are a few other samurai owners going up from a different club, I may tag along with them as I know they can't do the super tough stuff. Their all running carbs too.

Most of the trails aren't that steep but the obstacles will put you in some offcamber angles etc. Pretty much everything you can decide to try or bypass if you like. Your sami will fit in pretty good with the group as long as the motor is reliable.

How crowded is it on Saturdays? If it isn't real bad, I may come up very early on Saturday morning. My wife works that weekend, so it makes it hard for me to come up any earlier. I'd sure like to check out some of the trails, and watch some of you guys with buggies.

Anything that is iffy will fail at Harlan, the climb up the mountain will sure let you know if you have a cooling problem. I thought I had all the bugs out of my buggy, I mean I had ran it around here and Graceland a couple of times with no problems but with in an hour in Harlan my fuel system quit. All we're really saying is that it's a pretty good haul over there and if you have anything that needs attention I would do it before you leave.

Don, even when it's crowded you can get around good. You could meet us at camp and follow us up the mountain and watch us on the rock gardens.

That sounds great. I'm going to plan on it then. We can talk about times as it gets closer. Thanks

Thats the truth right there. The X would get hot like crazy on that climb. The buggy still gets warm on that climb. I don't know a lot of rigs that don't get warm on that climb.

Well I'll give it a try. I know there are few more things I would like to do to my sami but there add ons and not so much fixes. I'll try and go over it some more when I get home again.

I've added it to my calendar - for Saturday - hope I don't have the typical situations I've had with Harlan rides all this year. :icon_mrgreen:

There are a couple of us rollin in Thursday night, do you reckon there'd be any trouble gettin the spots offa walnut right there till friday when we head over to the house we rented? Or would it be better to hit South Evarts?

You know those few camping spots accross the railroad tracks on Walnut RD; do you think there would be anyone there thursday night? OR, would it be better to go ahead and stay where u guys are gonna stay. We rented a house just past baileys creek for Friday and Saturday; so we'll only be roughing it thursday.

Looks like another rainy weekend. I don't really care one way or another. Rain makes the trails more challenging, but it's no fun actually being wet. I'll be there either way.

argg. I was hoping for a good dry weekend. I prefer the dust to the rain. But I shoulda known if TN ranger is going to harlan its bound to rain. He's never been when its dry.
oh well i gotta drag out the rain suit again.

I am going to install a little rain shield like a visor to keep the rain from dripping on my hands as I am driving.

We will have great weather, maybe a little shower in the evening to knock down the dust.

Had a great time. We did Mason Jar, Grace Trail, Lower-middle-upper rock gardens, Big Perm (watch for bees), Little Jagger, Waterfall, Railbed, Creampuff, Lion's Den, Lower Damnation, and I tried Pony Hill.
I don't think Mason Jar is worth the drive to the top of the mountain, but Lion's Den sure is. If you go try to get to that obsticle. Even if you can't do it you should at least see it.
Here's a quick pic of me on Lower Damnation. Will post more later.

We will probably need to work on it before we ride again, I bet the weeds have taken over. It's a shame that we don't get more of it opened up.
