This truck is going to be spoiled until I have time to work on it. Most of the wheeling will be done on the quad.

Started stripping down the 4runner today.
And this weekend will start on this thing.
Will be able to reuse most parts that I have ordered for the runner, so it should work out good. Nothing major is going to happen currently. Going to throw on some new wheels and 33x13.50r15 Swamper LTB's and using what good ones I have from the runner as spares. Also the new bumpers roll cage and dif guards will be reused. Rock sliders will be modified to fit. And the can-back may be reused.

Will remain IFS for awhile but that will come. I had to send my kit back to all pro and I most likely will be having a kit for this one sent. But as far as I know now I am going to keep it IFS till further notice

Got the tube bumpers on ordering the new tires tomorrow and I will be putting rear shackles on tomorrow till I get a lift to make due till I find the time to sas it. But that is what is on the agenda this week, also sending back my old sliders and having new ones made for this truck. May also be taking the body lift off.

Here is some pics of black, sold my swampers so I got another deal from procomp and got some new rims. It looks really good does not rub on the road, tight turns, and still has a good bit of flex considering it is IFS. Going to get the lift soon, and some other mods.
Enjoy:

So the project has taken a turn on the slow side due to the recent events.
But... I am getting tired of not having the fun that I used to have on the harder trails.... so In about two months a loan is going to be taken out and this thing will look alot different.

Steady as she goes. Keep it between the goal posts and enjoy what each day/stage of life has in store. Sometimes if we move to quick, we miss beauty along the way. Whether it's anything from nuts & bolts, to our walk with the Lord.
Kinda why I decided to slowly build the XJ instead of buying a more complete rig. What I have learned, and the friendships & advice from all my Grace brothers/sisters has been worth more than a quick fix backed by cash.
I have spent too many years worrying about the end result instead of concentrating on the actual journey.
How 'bout some more corn dogs????

By the looks of things black will be sased by January.
Looking at doing either a Trail gear kit or custom fabbed... also a rear lift... should be one about a 5in spring.. and also dropping in some 5.29's.
Here is what the finish product should look like.. he is running the same set up I will most likely have and he also has the same 3 in body and rear bumper..

So are you fixing up Derricks old Yota that you totaled?
NC_James
01-23-2007, 05:09 PM
So I totalled? It would still be here if a semi had not crossed into my lane.
I could put these on either, right now these parts are for the truck.
I have a bid also on stuff for the runner, but that build will take awhile cause it is going to be frame up. We also are going to be working on Matt's buggy in the process.

I guess I should have said "were driving when it got totaled". Either way you got the ideal about which I was talking about, just curious which one.

I am doing alittle to both, one is going to be for like the nice scenic trail rides that won't present much of a challenge and the other will be the harder stuff. The truck will be built for the Tellico and other trails, I am going to build the runner back just the way it was for now before the wreck. I sold my infiniti so I have money to play with on both. And neither are going to be a d/d. Bought a camaro for that also.

Picking up the axles for black tomorrow :smokin:
NC_James
02-06-2007, 12:23 AM
I have been very busy the past few days with the ride and everything, so I just got the chance to unload the axles that I picked up. Now the rear axle is game for anyone that wants to make a offer on it.
Bad pic of the axles:
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e116/sinkinitup/OpBlack/0205072312.jpg
Now before they get installed I am going to have them serviced, and new brakes, and if it is needed all new shafts etc... the gearing will be 5.29 and both will be locked... I think it will end up being a spooled rear and Detroit front.

:smokin: It will be awesome seeing that truck with a solid front axle under it.
You've made more progress than me - my "new" rear axle is still in the bed of my truck

We put a new transmission in the truck. Went ahead and finally put a new exhaust back on it since it was running a hacksaw job for awhile. Started cleaning up the axles that are going under it, they are going next week for the gearing and the nice little add on toys. Also adding a K&N filter too it.
I had the truck sold then the guy went and bought one with IFS, stock gearing and 44's  He was not looking for a wheeling rig. We saw him at the rod run with it. He was pouring in anti-freeze cause it was running hot
So why not get my butt in gear and work for a change.
Also added some Maxxis tires onto the rover.

Basically what is going on the back if all goes to plan is a flat bed from a certain someone... The front wont change much except for the fact that the axles are actually ready to go under, just waiting on some extra parts.
And george the truck is fine. Just could not get rid of it so It is just going to be a cab truck.
The front end is going to get some tubing added. And autozone led's.
