Any Brocho experts here?
I drive by one of the smaller bronchos maybe mid 80's early 90's for sale on my drive from work. It is kinda rough and might make a good little trail rig that can be driven to trail heads within reason.
What type axles come on these things?
I may stop by to get year, model, engine, trans specs on it.....looks to be a low cost budget build opprtunity.

You mean bronco? If its a B2 it has a Twin Traction Beam axle based of a D44 or D30 i guess.

Depending on year, the front will be a Dana 28 or 35, and the rear will be a 7.5 or an 8.8.
like the Full size broncos since 1980, the front axle is a ttb set up rather than a solid axle.
The engine will be either a 2.8 carb(84-85) or 2.9 fi(86-90) engine.
I have heard there are problems with the 2.9 such as heads easily cracking and mixing oil and coolant, and the cam bearings are generally worn out on higher mileage engines which can cause low oil pressure. Expect it to chatter.

I have owned many b2 since 84 to 89.Neverhad any engine problems(had 6 of them)Alot of the low oil pressure came from small oil passages in the heads which causes alittle rattle. TTB IS A WEAKNESS never broke one in the woods.Check the motor out well before buying

They totally rock with full width 44 and 9" combo. You can also swap in a 4.0 or shoehorn a 5.0 into it.
