View Full Version : Bumpus - Sat. Jan 12th (and trail report)

Well, Lady Bumpus can rest for the winter (gates close in a couple days) -

Marshall wanted to test out his new XJ a bit, so he and a buddy and their wives were heading up that way. Since my Junk is still without fuel injectors, I hitched a ride with Marshall.

No bears, but we did run across a few folks on horseback, plus some fellow wheelers and hunters.

Bumpus does have some mud again, too. Enough rain has fallen that it was fairly wet & slick, plus the old mud holes are filled with water again.

We weren't sure about time, and Marshall hadn't trail-driven the XJ yet, so we went in via the fire road to see how it'd do. His Jeep did fine, so we decided to come back via the trenches and Slick Rock.

Well, we had a ball, and Marshall did great at the wheel.

Here's a couple pics - and, Lady Bumpus - sleep well over the winter - and we'll all be back.

Ah, Lady Bumpus never gets old. 8) The SJ is due for a little revenge on that one particular branch. :wink: :twisted: When does it open back up, Gordon?

I wish i could have gone 15mins from house but i shattered my front spider apart at calleante with bansil havent got exhaust done on black one yet (hope to get it finished this week)

Yup, we ran into some folks coming down from the trenches at the end of the fire road - a couple XJs, a bobbed Yota, and an EB - didn't recognize them, tho.

You could clearly see where the fresh tracks coming up had lots of skinny going on. :twisted:

:lol: I believe that trip I took with you was the worst I'd ever seen that section - we could hardly even walk up it! If it weren't for your winch I bet we'd turned around. Then there was Vince's truck getting completely airborne....... :lol: :lol:

Only been to Bumpus once and loved it.

The Jeep is looking good Marshall. Now just getcha some lift under it. You need to build it like Ted did his! :wink:

My goal is not to lift anymore. It's already got 3" under but the 32s make that look small. Even as it is, there was very little rubbing. All I have to do now is look where it rubbed and take that much more metal out! I'm ready to go again!

Hey whats the deal, I have been lookin and waitin to see if there was gonna be any trail rides on bumpus for the past 3 weeks, and never saw a single post about this how did I miss it ?????? I even tonight went back and looked over the list of rides and events and don't see anything anywhere. Can someone explain to me how people on the board are supposed to keep up with the rides if they don't see any posts about them ??????

This probably was not an official ride. Marshall probably called Gordon to see if he would cruise with him to test.

Exactly, Marshall lives just about next door to me and it was a last minute run to test his new XJ. I just posted up the pics and trail report for info.

after rereading the post I now see what happened. Could we possibly not post it with the official trail rides next time please cause that is what confused me and made me think that people were miss informed.
