A friend of mine just got his Harley stolen from him. HE had it up for sale and a couple of guys came to look at it. The one said that it was perfect for him and went to get a check out but didn't have his book so his friend offered to pay with a check. My buddy went ahead and signed over the title and sent the guys on with the bike. Check didn't clear. and the one guy that said that he would pay claimed the guy buying the bike ran off with the Truck they were in and the bike. Either way, My buddy is out his bike and couldn't have happened at a worse time. He has an interview with the Airline I work for this up and coming Monday. I told him I would pray for him and also If you guys could through one up it would be awesome. I can't stand this kinda stuff. Thanks....
My friend's name is Ben Elkins just so you know.

Lesson learned - never take a check.
Also he can file for a lost title and report it stolen. He'll need to act quickly though.
The police will hunt down and figure out which guy has it.

Will do! I had this happen to me with a car I sold once The check has or shoulod have the mans name and address on it. He can be taken in for auto theft and writing fraudulent checks (both felonies). That would put a hurting on some one. Have to get the check from the bank and prove it was no good. :? The person who did it to me was arrested and also had a pretty hefty fine. Hope this works out.

yeah thats what the Police said. The guy that wrote the check has to come up with the money for the bike. So he got scammed too. So my friend should still be getting his money. Because of how much the bike cost and how much the check was written for the guy that wrote the check could go to jail for writing a bad check. Its a big mess and My friend didn't deserve this kind of trouble. exspecially seeing he has a job interview this Monday with an airline. way to much stress as it is.
