I am fixing to rebuild my Turbo 350 and I am looking at putting a Manual Valve Body in it. I am looking at one from TPI that is full manual/reverse shift and full engine braking. I have done some research and several on Pirate are running this setup. These are not cheap so I just wanna make sure I am not making a huge mistake. I also have a Chettah SCS shifter so the reverse shift pattern wont be a problem.
What are you guys running?

I'm gonna run TCI's full manual, reverse valve body in my 700r4. It has full engine braking in all gears just like the one you're looking at. Everyone I've talked to says it's perfect for off-road.

I have a th350 with a TCI Manuel valve body in my buggy and really like it. One thing that I did was to remove some of the springs in the packs so that it would apply more pressure to the clutches, this dose make it shift harder but helps eliminate clutch slippage. I also have a 2700 rpm converter and it makes a huge difference with my 4.3. Also a manual valve body can be made instead of bought and will save you some money. The only draw back is that it will not have the compression braking.

For a full performance mod this would be great, but likely you will lose all of the street driveability. Most of these that I have done have been more for drag type applications. You lose pressure control on all that I've seen which equates to hard shifts in all scenarios. My .02 would be a Transgo shift improver and full overhaul with quality parts.

It's going into a TJ, linked F/R, coilovers, Stak, 42" Iroks, full hydro steering, and about to get a V8. I don't think streetability is a major concern for him.

Andy you go all out man.. When are you gonna ditch the TJ body (about the only thing jeep left on your rig ;) ) and just put this stuff on a tube chassis?
I have no usefull information on your question haha just figured I would HiJack.
Look forward to wheeling with you all again.

Yeah I could care less about street driving. I am just wanting to make sure the thing will crawl down a steep bank or rock face without having to use the brakes. After talking on the phone with the guys at TCI I decided to go with their Kit 321115. This is a Full Manual Reverse shift valve body with full engine braking. It will work awsome with my Chettah SCS shifter. I am sending the tranny this week over to a local tranny shop that specializes in 4x4 builds. They are gonna do me up right.
TCI actually told me that this valve body will maximize the line pressures in the tranny making the clutches work even better. This is there signiture Valve body that they have developed for all 4x4 and monster truck applications.
I have it with a reverse shift pattern. Its ok, i dont much care for it but that was on the way you cant a trans brake to work.
One thing to keep in mind is that if anyone drive your truck / rig chances of human transmission issues rise about 100%.

Thanks for the info...you are the first that I have talked to with this setup that does not absoulty love it. I am not in the habit of loaning out my jeep to anyone. Now that is will be an auto....I am just a little afraid that the wife may take it from me. :(
