My son and his wife are coming in for a few days. He has never been out on the trails, so we're gonna take a short run somewhere. Bumpus Fire Road/Rich Mtn or Horse Creek, most likely.

Monday 10:00 or 10:30

Anyone interested?

Hey Gordon!!! Would you consider Dick Creek Falls in Unicoi? I've been eyeballing this one on the map for a while and I know you have also. I have been a little ways up the trail but I was by myself and didn't want to push my luck. I can ride on Sunday.

I'd personally really like to run Dick Creek, but my son is only gonna be here for a couple days, so time is real tight for us. I'd rather run somewhere I'm quite familiar with.

My preference right now is Bumpus on Sunday afternoon, but maybe Horse & maybe Monday morning - depending upon the weather, too. Run up the fire road, to the fields up top - maybe to BearWallow, then, if time permits, back down to the cul-de-sac via the trenches (instead of the fire road). I do not want to get into a situation that would run into darkness, nor playing that might result in busting something and get into a time problem.

He's not arriving until Saturday afternoon and leaving Wednesday morning. I am trying to fit a ride in between church on Sunday and Christmas Eve services.

Gordon, what time sunday afternoon are you wanting to start? I am really wanting to come and think my dad and brother are going to come too but dont want to hold you up. It would be about 2 before i could get there after church. If you go monday i am free all day i think.

I would like to ride Monday, but my wife, who is the big organizer of this weekend with our kids, would prefer I do the Sunday afternoon thing. I will nail this down, one way or the other, by tomorrow evening. Also, Sunday weather appears to be looking worse than Monday.

Well, Sunday is out. I am going to try for Monday, around 10:00 or 10:30, Bumpus - up the fire road. We might try to come back via Slick Rock, depending on time.

I will confirm on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Sorry for all the zigzag, just trying to fit something into a very time constricted weekend.

Well, looks like we're gonna try for Monday around 10:00-10:30. Most likely for about 4 hours. Anyone out there interested?

How about the church parking lot across from the Embreeville fire house - around 10:00 so we could roll by 10:30?

We'll meet at the BP gas station instead of the church, then. There are a couple ways you could do it.

Longer, but perhaps slightly more straightforward - head east on I26 to the Erwin exit (old #18, new #37). At the end of the exit ramp, turn right and go 7 miles on SR81. You will cross the Nolichuckey river, go past the fire house, and in 2 miles, there's a BP station on the right. At this intersection, 107 turns left to Greeneville and SR81 continues straight into Jonesborough.

The shorter way is to get off I26 at Cracker Barrel, cut across Boone's Creek, go through downtown Jonesborough, where Main Street will become SR81. Head towards Erwin on SR81 for about 8 miles, you'll cross the Nolichuckey (different bridge), and then the BP will be on your left, with 107 making a right turn.

I'm out  The jeep is spewing fuel at the fuel filter.

Well, the Lord has a different plan for me today. Hasn't been revealed yet, but I know it.

The #1 fuel injector was leaking real bad when Ryan & I got to the BP and I couldn't fix it there, so, we called it a day. Lady Bumpus wins again!

Sorry for the zigzag, Alan.

No need to be sorry. It was nice to get out of the house on such a beautiful day. We'll hit it again another day...
