We were thinking of a day ride up to the settlement if we can get someone to show us the way. Meeting somewhere to have a little breakfast then hit the trail. We would have a mixed group almost stock to modified.

When you looking at going?

I may be up for it in January.

Words of wisdom...

You cannot have a camp fire at the gate like in the past.

You have to hike about a mile through the settlement to a designated spot.
we had to do this in February.

Does anyone know how close to the actual settlement can the rigs be driven? From the park map, it appears quite a hike and from what I've found on the net, it's about a 12 mile round trip hike.

Also, seems like you can visit the park itself and take a tour bus. About a 4-hour tour.

Doesn't look like it is a wheeling site. I am just not familiar, other than net research. It does look like a way-cool trip, since I really enjoy history and so forth.

So am I hearing that it's good or bad to hit the trails here? Anyone with experience want to be a guide for us and show the way? Sounds like this would be an awesome trip for the views, the pictures from the top look like they're really nice!
