This is the website that the RPM guys gave me for the Baja 1000 race tracking. Mid way down the right side is the Images & Event Tracking link. Not exactly sure what it?ll show, but we?ll see once the race starts.
http://www.racetheworld.net/ircstore/

This is a link to the schedule. Racing for the RPM trucks starts around noon, our time, on Tuesday the 13th.
http://www.score-international.com/baja1000/2001/Schedule.pdf

The RPM trucks are listed in the Class 8 grouping and are #877 (Justin Matney) and #878 (Clyde Stacy).

Our club member, Jeremy Miltier (jmiltier), is part of the team and will be riding during part of the event.

Let?s also say a prayer for the RPM folks? safety, as well as the entire KORE team, and the other Baja 1000 participants.

Looks like our guys may have hit some snags. The 877 & 878 trucks are no longer being tracked on the GPS. Malcolm Smith, the other KORE truck (#867) is about 550 miles into it.

Will see if I can find out what happened to Justin & Clyde.

EDIT at 1145:
It is my computer network here at work. Bypassed it and was able to see them just fine. Thanks, Doug.

315 & 395 mile markers at 1145 hrs.

I think he runs in the Jeepspeed class. At least that's what he ran in last year.

Lance and Jason Finish Baja 1000

Looks like they might have finished 4th in Pistol Pete's Trophy Truck #2. Pistol's 1st ever baja 1000 finish. They are now trying to find each other so they can run back up the race course to Race Mile 982 for the exchange in driving duties for the Mike Shaffer 1705 Jeepspeed and finish in yet another vehicle.

I'm thinking they may have a little longer, too. Each truck has 53 hrs from its start. So, if they actually weren't first off the line, their start times might be a little later.

Continuing to pray for their safe passage. Godspeed, guys!

Looks like Justin (877) just jumped out on the highway above LaPaz. Either trouble, or knows he can't make the end in time. He's still moving at 60mph plus, so time is probably the factor.

Clyde (878) is at around 1190 and still moving.

Haven't seen anything of KORE (Malcolm & Kent - 867) all day. Still at 870.

Keep 'em safe, Lord!

Na, I bet something is wrong...you always want to finish in the BAJA

878 has just made it to Cabo - 877 never got back onto the trail, has stayed on the highway and should be in Cabo within 1/2 hour.

867 has shown a course back north of marker 870, unsure what the deal is there.

EDIT: 877 arrived at Cabo - 2100 hrs our time.

Only have the GPS to go by, but it appears that the RPM guys arrived safely. Thank you, Lord.

IIRC Jeremy said they'd be back in Bristol next Wednesday.

I don't know what the deal is but I can't get it to work for me. I can see the map and the class listing but nothing in the listings.

Oh well I'll just watch the thread!!

I hope they all (RPM) finishes.

Im way late to the game..... they have been back a while.

Clides truck finished. juds tuck didnt... they launched it and the shocks broke off the mounts and i think he said it broke the leaf springs as well. The 3ed truck didnt run because it was rolled in the pre run...

I have pictures of them but they ask me not to post them.. I guess jeremy will later on....

Thats some crazy stuff they do... ive never seen weld brake off like that!

Gordon
11-28-2007, 05:29 PM
Yeah, I've seen the pics. The leaf springs flattened, causing shocks to bottom. Didn't actually break the springs. 878 & 877 look good, but the other one has LOTS of rash.

Did you see the pictures there or the trucks.. I saw the trucks but with all that sand on them its hard to a what really happend. They do have some cool pictures! Jud was placing an order for the CD. One of the shots has the red truck about 3-4 feet in the air lol... it almost looks photoshopped.

Gordon

Pics on the web.

I think that Justin likes lots of skinny. Seems like most of the pics I looked at had at least a foot of air under all 4 wheels.

Was down there today and went back to look at all the trucks. 877 & 878 are fairly clean, at least hosed off. The other one is in the back of the shop against the back wall. It'll need just a little work.
