I have to say i am proud of the Grace group.
You guys are a stand up group!!
You guys come to our beggin call and really care bout Harlan..
How bout the two clubs get together for a two joint rides? One being Harlan and the other your location..
we could even do a camp thing on both of them.
I think this could take our clubs to the next level with each other..
This is me speaking and not the club....
just wanting input.....

Id be up for it if I was in from school. I still need to take my truck to Harlan. I have had the ATVs there but never the truck.

What would be a good ride down this way? We don't have anything to compare to Harlan. We could do Bumpus and camp out at the fields on the top.

By then we should have Graceland opened up a lot more and there's plenty of room to camp.

George if you want to do your guys first we could do a camp and trail work on the new place... or ride somewhere there.... for instance..
ride and trail work on saturday then sunday... do bumpus/// of course george could do sunday school... Which would be a great idea to me..
also I was thinking that we could do something a little different here on the harlan end.. How about seeing something a little different than black mountain?

Winter run. :smokin:
Gotta watch FS gate closures. The Cherokee Forest Closure list has been posted and most every gate closes on 18 January thru 17 March. The Bumpus fire road closes 01 December thru 14 December for the bear hunts, then opens 15 December thru 17 January. Beauty Spot and Stony shut down on 17 December thru 17 March. Plus, bad weather can dictate additional closures realtime.

The more I visit Harlan, the more I love that place.
I also love the whole ride swap idea - but for KYMC rigs that are built & wheeled like yours, Shoope - Bumpus or Stoney may be a bit disappointing. Only Graceland or Chinquipin would have stuff that even begins to compare with the harder trails at Harlan IMO. Currently Graceland is a small trail, but with work it has more play areas to open. Both are on private property, so we wouldn't have to deal with USFS rangers & rules.
Bumpus & Stoney would appeal to moderate rigs (like Fossil, the end of trail 13, and Grapevine - when its dry, that is) but doesn't have much of the hard stuff. Bays without water is pretty easy except for a couple of sections. All 3 of the aforementioned are on public property, Bumpus & Stoney are USFS. Graceland & Chinquipin have big rock formations to conquer, but not much for the moderate wheelers.
Just tossing out ideas here - maybe camp at a central location (George?) then branch into 2 groups for wheeling; hard & moderate :?:

Only Graceland or Chinquipin
Ride graceland 1 day and see if Jeff and David will let us do Chinquipin the next? That would be some fun stuff. I need to go work on the Ftoy :)
I would like to see some other places to ride in Harlan.

Well I'd love to ride with you guys. November is booked up for me and December is as well. January-February would be cool. Winter run. But that's just me. I could change my November plans if need be. Maybe the weekend after turkeyday.

WE have a date set for a ride in January. This ride is a little something different than normal Harlan rides.
1/26/08
9AM
at Chris Allens house..
we will be riding the loop behind his house. Very nice trials with a variety of trails. This ride is a moderate ride.. Maybe some optional harder stuff on the sides.
Lets do this as the first leg of the GRACE/KYMC swap..
