I've never rode Bays before, and I'll be in town next weekend (27th/28th).
I have other things Saturday evening/night that I want to go do and see, but maybe a few of you would want to ride Bays that weekend sometime and I can ride shotgun with someone.... :?:
KTaylor660
10-17-2007, 04:22 PM
Bays run on Saturday sounds good......I think Tri-Cities Crawlers are planning something for the 28tth (Sunday), but not sure when or where. Maybe my Samurai will even be running by then!

10-19-2007, 11:26 AM
Soooo...... It looks like the majority are okay with Saturday.
I don't know all the details of the area for me to pick a meeting time/spot. Would anyone like to take the lead on that?
I personally would like to start in the morning hours somewhere b/c I'd like to go around to some of those fall festivals and stuff, So I want to have the evening for those things. But, I can go with the flow of things if needs be.

I'm In. I say we meet at 1000 at Meadow View lower parking lot. role out 1010. Or if we wanna meet at 0930 im gain for that too. Sullivan to Hawkins and back. Unless anyone wants to go just from Hawkins county side to Sullivan. I don't know how to get there that way.

I can't remember right now if I have plans for next weekend or not. :?
If I don't have anything going on Saturday, I will try to come ride since I didn't get to go to Harlan.
Having my kids with me and without Bluegill's coaching, I would have to take the easier lines. Just don't pick
on me too much!
I'll post up later in the week to finalize if I will be coming or not.

Is every one good with meeting at Meadow view in the lower parking Lot?

If we did not bring our other friends on stuff like this the sight would not grow like it has. Bring as many as you can. If you don't have a seat someone will. That is what we do. It will be great to meet new people.

A stock Jeep will do just fine without bypasses, at least going from Sullivan to Hawkins - now a Sami, that's a different story.

Yeah a stock jeep shouldn't have any problems getting in. getting out well thats when you need a smaller vehicle such as a samurai to drive around the hard stuff. LOL ok ok
can't wait to see every one there. This is gonna be the last ride for my samurai in curent form ( I think ) so lets make it a good one.

Tam loves Bays Mountain park. She wants to see if the planetarium is open. She loves the animals too. Amazingly enough, see a deer on the side of the road, no big deal. Put one in a fence in a state park, stand there and take pics all day long.

I don't think there has been a time I have been at the Bays Mountain park and haven't seen at least 5 deer. We usually walk the trail around the lake and we always see a bunch. The last time we went there was one in the parking lot walking by people eating at the picknic tables. I took a picture and the deer just posed for it. I'll have to see if we still have the photo.....

Well, interesting day up at Bays Mtn.
We met at Meadowview and after the blessing, 16 rigs headed out. When we reached the trailhead on the Sullivan side, we were greeted by the gentleman (and some friends) who leases the land around that area. We were advised that we were trespassing and that the law enforcement was on its way.
Our lead rig was stopped just at the end of the paved roadway. Making a long story short, we waited for law enforcement, 3 cruisers arriving shortly. It appeared obvious that the locals knew we were arriving for a trail ride.
Everyone, on both sides of the discussion, remained professional.
Law enforcement advised us that county property ended at the pavement end, and that what we know as the entrance to the trail is indeed on private property. Without further research at this time, we left and returned to George's farm for a great afternoon of fun and fellowship.
Further information will be posted up in the Trails section under the Bays heading. This includes specific instructions from the Grace BOD regarding club usage of this trail. 4X4Grace will not be using this trail until further notice.
Here's a link to some pics from George's - Had a blast there, as usual. George, thanks for the hospitality.

As much as I was let down that we didn't get to ride Bays today, I feel that this will be an overall positive situation for Grace. I think the BOD did a wonderful job showing that our club is an exception to the rule of off-road clubs. Every time we have a positive encounter with the public and law enforcement as in this case; we only strengthen our public perception as Christians and nature conservationist. It was unfortunate that we didn't get to ride, but I like to fine some positive in a negative.

I dont see the day as a loss at all, we set out to have a good time and enjoy each others company and thats exactly what we did! It seems like we're on the right road to a resolution with the Bays trail and when we get the right papers, we're set and no one will be in our way to a great day. My main objective was to meet more of the grace family and every day i feel more comfortable knowing I'm making great friendships that will last. After we left George's, we went to Housewright Hollow and had a great time. Boy its muddy down there! Luke (white jeep) also asked that I thank EVERYONE for making him feel welcome and showing him what a great group is all about....Thanx again to EVERYONE!

It was really nice getting to meet everyone. I had a great time and can't wait for another ride.

I had a great time, even if we didn't get to ride Bays.
Thanks George for letting us play at your place.
I'm afraid before too long the only trail riding will be on privately owned property. Wished I have about 100 acres or so!

I know what you are saying. About the only think I hate about the shift schedule is I'm only off two weekends a month. Most people work during the week so not too much wheeling during the week. When I'm off on the weekends I try to spend time with the wifie and little man.
