I just got me a new 86' 4-runner, you can see some pre-pics in this thread: http://www.4x4grace.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=7643

I will get some newer close-up pictures very soon.

I definitely have a lot of work to do. I was thinking of doing a SAS conversion, but I don't know what all is required (new to this game).

What is stock gearing on 86 4-runner?

Do I have to do a high steer with a SAS conversion?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but I need to find a good direction to aim. Thanks guys !

Nice 'yota. I have access to a yota solid axle. Complete except missing one hub. $125. Would need a tear down and rebuild etc.

Congratulations Bryan! Wes can tell you, ANY trail rig involves wrenching & money. Some less than others, but all still need it. That 4-Runner is a great start for a wheeling rig. By the way - in case you're wondering, FSBS is a Toyota "Phd".

I'll get that manual for ya too!

If you need anything I will be glad to help. I have some IFS parts left over from my SAS.

Thanks for all the answers FSBS!

Good to know! I have a bit before I can afford the axle + the rebuild kit (gotta get me some torque wrenches).

Thanks! Yea I'm excited to learn and work on it. From everything I have been told/read my 4-runner is a good budget rig, and that's exactly what I was lookign for.

Thank you, I can't wait to get out there with you guys!

Awesome. Right now, the only thing I need is a bracket to hold the IFS down (technical I know). There is a 4" Country Lift on the front, but the axle tries to roll forwards without this bracket. When we were trying to get it on the trailer, the IFS flexed and the driver-side short shaft came out. All I need to do is take the wheel off and put it back in for a temporary fix. Ultimately I will need a bracket or something similar. Do you know offhand what type of bracket it is? Thanks!

I think that I have one. I have talked to Wes about it, and we will get together and get it fixed.
