My new laptop came with Windows Vista.... :angry5: :angry5: :angry5: :angry5: :angry5: Man how I hated this OS. It's very nice to look at but I've got Microstation SE and AutoCAD 2002, Photoshop 7 and none of them would work with VISTA. I tried to find drivers for my Photosmart 1115 Printer. Once I went to HP website they said my product was 7 years or older and they weren't going to update drivers and I needed to purchase a new printer. :angry5: :angry5: Boy talk about a money maker!!!!

So I contacted this guy cause I was told he had a new Toshiba laptop and did the same thing. He had the laptop for a day and called me that it was a success and I could come get it.

So if you are needing some computer work or help this is a good one!

Yup, planned obsolescence - we were able to get XP on the laptop we bought 2 months ago from Dell, but they did say it was the end of XP. Glad it worked out.

From what I've read on the net and heard people talking "NO ONE" likes VISTA.

I'll keep XP for as long as I can unless they improve and update some drivers and software to run with it.

I do that sort of thing for customers also. The only problem is to do it "legally" you must buy a copy of XP which is over $100 and then pay to have it installed. There are many people doing this by putting an illegal copy of XP on there. I hope he gave you a genuine XP cd and a sticker that has your product number on it.

Not real sure but I never did read Mike saying that he actually installed XP on it. Mike is that what he did?

Vista works great once you clean it up some and disable "User Account Control".

Call me old fashioned, but I still don't like XP. My home-built desktop runs 2000 Pro (with external emulators) and it has performed wonderfully for several years. Shoot, it even processes twice as fast as the XP systems I've used that have much more powerful CPU's & twice the RAM of my home-built.

Yes he installed XP on it and I have an XP CD.

I just got a new laptop last week and actually like Vista. Havent got any complaints on it so far. Just a little bit memory intensive, but once you get enough ram I have heard it runs smooth.

I liked how it ran it's just I couldn't run any of the software that I have and my printer wouldn't work with it. I don't have about $6000 to update my software.

I hate Vista, its a Mac OS copy down to the core (and I despise MAC). I really wish Linux would step up to the plate and would create a mainstream OP system for use on home PCs. I have used linux on some things at work and love it. XP is prolly the best OS that Microsoft has ever developed. I cant believe it had such a short run.

All about money........IMHO

Most average users can hardly tell the subtle differences when each new OS comes out. For what most people use a home PC for, it doesn't make squat for a difference. Except ya gotta buy other new/compatible software, in many cases, with the new OS.

What do you think Windows 3.1 was...;)

Most folks don't remember that. When we ditched the 3.1 for 95  vast improvement.

How 'bout the Commodore 64?

HaHa, yeah Win 95 was my first experience with Microsoft (man you guys are old) lol JUST KIDDING!!! But I do remember my neighbor having a Commodore 64. There was a cool drag racing game that he had for it. His son was a pro drag racer at the time and was on the game. I remember the graphics. It was pretty much like racing two bricks on a coffee table.
