My wreck on Sunday 9/17/07
Not even a scratch on me - God was with me and the cars around me:

Why did Drake keep taking photos of the bumper he made :-k

Here are a few more pics...I'll know more of what direction that the build will go in ina few days

I'm still not 100% what happened...I'm thinking the lift 8+ inches with the stock drag link & steering set up caused one of the ends to bind at the pittman arm. I hit a man hole at 30mph and the front started to shake, turned left, and started barking, when the weight of the vehicle came back down I think the bind held my wheels aiming into the on coming lane. I hit the brakes, then had to really lock it up as the cars got closer. It spun the rear end around my front and flipped onto my roof.

So listen up kids! Upgrade your steering linkage when lifting your vehicle!! Although I ran it near the same height for the past 2 years, I had just added new springs (a little taller) to the long arm minutes before. We tested in a parking lot and everything was nice. Whooo knows?

The Front Bumper/Stinger held up great!

Shows that pitch did a awesome job. It also shows that good thing it was just you if you had a passenger we would not be making jokes. Take care. and let the lesson be learned and make that thing into a buggy now.

did you get it towed to the wreckers yard? I wouldn't leave it there long. People will start taking stuff :(..

Its time to build it for wheeling.. Get a tow rig and your ready.

Supposed to only be there no more than 3 days...I'm ready to get it back home - I have 16" King air shocks and everything to 4-link the rear waiting in the garage...Yes its time to go off-road only.

Cage it out, dove tail the front....maybe I could make it into CRAWL magazine

Man Hilla that's a tuff one, it was and still is a cool XJ! Like I said glad NO ONE was seriously hurt!

I always thought one built like this would be cool!

You could take the other cherokee that was just wrecked and replace the front with yours and move all your after market stuff over to the other one. I hate that it happened to you.

I know If that happened to mine, I would be sleeping next to it until I could bring it home. No way I would leave it alone for more then a couple of hours even if its being watched.

I pray that you get back on all fours soon. ANd thankful you weren't hurt.

Yip that one is a little ruff. I just like how they look with the back section chopped off.

Yeah, here's a little better example:

Although, you kind of still need the front section of the roof to pull that one off :-o

Take your time - walk away from it after the insurance stuff is over (perhaps you can buy it back??), let it all sink in, and then decide. Don't rush.

You might want to build it lower so it has a better COG and isn't so top heavy. Maybe put shorter springs on it and cut the fenders instead.

Glad your ok man! Thank the Lord that no one was in the passenger seat!

I say you just cut the top and cage it!

Just cut the top off and buy a new top and have Drake weld it back on. I know a guy who's parting one and would sell you all the parts crazy cheap.

man......at least your ok!!! I"m really sorry about your nice clean xj though...that's a bummer. I bet it would have been nice to riding on full widths then. Well man good luck w/ the new project \:D/

Glad your okay. I would do like some have said and wait and see how the insurance goes and then go from there. I don't think your center of gravity is a big issue. Its probably lower than the full size rigs running 44 inch tires.

ITS ALIVE :laughing7: (insert evil laugh)
I bought the XJ back, have it at home finally.

Cleared the oil from the cylinders...(too close to the house  ), Topped off the fluids. It cranked and I ran it until the smoke cleared. I took it around the field for a few laps, ducked down peaking through the space where the windshield once was  . She starts just like the day I got it.

Going to get busey on bending up the roof and piliars to get my doors opening again.

A buddy of mine barrell rolled his several times in a field, bent everything back and none of his glass leaks except the passenger door a little. Took him a while but it still looks bad as there isn't a straight panel on it has no structural rigidity. He will be swapping everything over to a dead one he bought for $300 with a clean title.
