Looking forward to it. As for the advice.......
trade it for a Chevy...... Sorry I am just kidding. Little thing between the Chevy and Ford boys around here.
i guess i should let the cat out of the bag. i'm a chevy man my daily is a 01 silverado. as far as a trail truck it's the best my budget could do

 Man, if that Ford was a shortbed half ton........it would look just like the first truck I ever drove unassisted (12yrs old at the time) It was a '73 and I tore up my grandfather's field with it.
I certainly feel you on the tight budget part, that's why I chose a full sized Jeep for my rig. I've got less than 2k total in it.
Looking forward to seeing the build up, and wheeling with ya!

Its ok, he is part smurf. They have blue blood too. :P Good Luck with the build. Long beds are a little tricky on the trails. Long body and light in the rear, makes you have to use some skills offroad I am a fullsize Blazer runner and I do not care ford, chevy, toyota, whatever. I wish VW had a good offroad vehicle thats affordable. I would trade both my cars for this:

yea the long bed is going to make it fun  one day i would like to shorten it and do a flat bed. but first i need some welding skills

Here you don't need skill, you just need friends with skill. You found the friends. What do you want to do?
well i would like to shorten the wheel base to a reasonable length. flat bed, custom bumpers front and rear, rock sliders, roll cage, fuel cell(thought about propane but it's a smog motor with no compression anyway)6 inch lift(superduty front springs and i have herd that u can use chevy rear springs)36s or 38s, beads locks, detroit locker rear, open front (maybe the d44 will live  ) 4.56 gear (still have to drive it to the trail head) and twin stick transfer case. i know what happen to the budget. i'm looking to get this done over time not tomorrow  i will start on it in november i think  and it will never be finished
WELCOME TO GRACE NICE TRUCK :!:
