I'll be off work Aug. 24th - Sept. 3rd, we shut down the week before Labor day every year. I'd like to make a trip to Harlan during that time. I'd kinda like to stay a couple days, anybody interested in going over say maybe Fri. the 24th and coming back Mon. the 27th. It would be a good time to get out of town and away from all the race traffic.

Anybody interested?

Ben I think the race is this coming weekend isn't it?

Ben, I'm definitely interested. I'd only go up for one day, however. Probably Saturday the 25th.

It's the same weekend every year. I was in Harlan that weekend last year too with Hano and friends. That was my YJ's maiden voyage with the new axles. This year will be a bit of an anniversary celebration.

Gordon that'd be great too. We could meet up early Saturday morning and get a good day of riding in.

I like harlan but when are we going to tellico? I really want to get over there soon. I could use a good Fri-Sun camping trip in the woods. That would be very fun.

I wish I had gone before they started harassing wheelers so bad, I was talking to a guy this weekend that got 11 tickets just for problems with camping and several others in his group got big$ tickets for vehicle infractions. It just doesn't make sense to me to go somewhere that they don't want you when I can go to Harlan where they roll out the red carpet

I hate to hear that about Tellico, I have always wanted to return there. I guess they expect you to trailor your rig to the trail head and then go wheeling. thats crazy, but then again, that area is starting to boom with all the yuppies moving in. property values are gonna start rising down there if they haven't already. But Harlan is closer, and I do like red carpet.

x2 :!: I want to at least be able to SAY that I've rode Tellico because in a few years it may not be open to ride anymore. Besides, the hospitality of Harlan County is hard to beat, and they won't hang you if your rig spills one drop of oil.

This is very tempting indeed. I would only be down for one day which would be that Sunday, but very, very tempting. I would like to go with someone who knows the trails. The last time I went, my wife and I were by myself so I mainly stayed on level 3 and less trails, but did manage to find my way around better than the first time. I will get back to you on this one.

I've stayed at the Putney side a few times but I like the Bailey's Creek side better because of the Corner Cafe

It would be good if you could tag along with some of the guys from AORC, they live there and know every inch of it. Without a guide it's hard to find your way around.
