Well, we had a great day of fellowship and fun at Bumpus - and, quite a few folks indicated that it would be fun to do something like this again - so

How about Stony Creek in Elizabethton - Saturday Sept 29th??? We'll meet at Food City at 10:00.

EDIT:

I put some additional info in the Stony Trail thread, such as a vicinity map for out of area folks who may not have been up there before.
http://www.4x4grace.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=5429

Also, I cleaned up this thread and put up a roll call.

In the mean time, as it stands - 10:00 at Food City, a stop at the school for the photo op & blessing and meet up with the trailer folks, then on to the T/H. Like we did last February.

How long of a ride is this?

We will hit the trail around 10:30 by meeting at 10:00 and should be back to the paved roads not later 4:00 or so, maybe even by 3:00. This will account for the size of the group and some playing.

We usually all start together, but some lag back to play more than others, and we'll split at Ford/Dodge hill. We then generally meet at the top and drive down together.

I had a wonderful time today, everyone. It was a great day of fellowship & wheeling!

Trail Report ?

Some of us met at Food City and some at Northeast ? The Food City gang met up with the others for the group picture and blessing.

Weather was picture perfect and we started to roll at around 10:30. At the trailhead, everyone performed their final checkouts and away we went.

First stop was a creek crossing, then on to the stair steps. Goes without saying basically, that there was dust coming off the rocks, as it was so dry up there. The creek was barely running. Everyone was getting superb traction since there was no mud at all, or even moisture on the rocks.

Not quite yet to Pinto Hill, a momma black bear and her two cubs went bounding right across the trail, not 50' in front of me. They did not pose for pictures, needless to say.

When we got to Pinto, we took a short break. Everyone scoped out the two directions. A couple of us decided to head towards the Pinto in order to go thru that tight ?S? curve. The others took the usual path.

After everyone got up that hill, we went on up to the Ford/Dodge split. We took a nice break here. The day was so pleasant ? fellowship in abundance. Doug and I buzzed up Dodge in Doug?s Isuzu, made it to the top, and returned back down past the Hilton on Ford trail to meet the group and report on Dodge Hill. I had never been up Dodge, so the scouting proved worthwhile. The consensus was that everyone else, including my XJ, would go up Ford. Doug thought once up Dodge was enough for today.

We all arrived at the Hilton, where we took another nice socializing break. We then all headed up to the towers and back down Panhandle Road. We stopped at the last gate and said our goodbyes and headed on home ? finishing up around 5:00 or so.

I guess it was a combination of great weather, great company, and the Lord ? this was a nice, slow and easy day, everyone had a great time, and the only carnage was one flat tire.

Here are my pics ? there were others taken, including some video, which will be posted up.

Seems like Dodge gets a little tougher with each run up it, my first trip up it ripped a rusty shock mount off the FSJ's frame.

Me and Alex both had a great time. Thank you all for the good company and a fun day on the trails. I look forward to wheeling with you again in the future.

As for those of you who were interested in where I purchased my bumper here is the link to the guys E-bay profile. Read his feedback. He is slow, but I knew this when I ordered. He doesn't currently have any auctions. I only had one problem with the bumper and that was the mount for the jack. The studs are not lined up with the holes in my jack which is why mine is mounted so high. It would be an easy fix if I would have know before I coated the bumper.

His name is Tyler Atkinson and his telephone number is 208-871-9051. His address is 7150 W, Victory Rd, Boise, ID 83709.

Doug, Is that an AMIGO. If so that thing is cool! I've always thought they would look cool lifted. I'd say it would be even sweeter with an SAS!!

Thanks for leading the group, gordon,we had a good time.

We enjoyed wheeling with everyone and meeting everyone.

Yep it's an Amigo.......no lift and 33's.It won't be getting bigger tho' :smokin: It's mt RatRod.

Dodge hill was very interesting to say the least........and I'm happy
I was able to take Gordon up it to get the GPS layout.

When we went to look at it (to see how bad it was and see if anyone wanted to go up it).........we were kinda there all of a sudden and I looked at Gordon and said "hold on and keep your hands inside"

and off we went there are alot of big rocks on that steep climb........

It was an adrenile rush, something I hadn't had in a while.... ....thanks Gordon for bringing it up......

All in all it was a wonderful day.........can't wait to see some video.

And thanks to the two guys that locked my hubs in to finish the climb out of the creek bed.......I couldn't get out and do it myself.

Hmm, I always thought the fords were SA. My Bronco was. Same (or around the same) model.

I would think if you had an 80's or later model they all were TTB (Twin Traction Beam) They stink. That's what's under mine and sucks trying to keep it aligned. If you had an 80's or later with a SA I'd say someone did an SAS to it before you got it.

Any Ford 1980 or newer on a 1/2 ton came stock with independent front ends. Everything from bronco2 to rangers to f150 to fullsize broncos. you dont get a straight axle till you get to a 3/4 ton truck. ive owned all of the above. ive never really had any problem out of the twin beams.(so far) :smokin:

Andrea and I had a great time too. The fellowship was wonderful, and the ride was pleasant, a little challenging, but no major carnage. The dust on the way down the fire road was a little intense though. My wife's hair turned white!!

Sorry for the delay on the videos. We have been having some trouble with the camera, and it is being stubborn. We may also have lost a couple, including my ascent of Pinto  . Hopefully she can get them on today.
