After selling my wifes atv, thought I would build something Ive been wanting for a while...
Picked up this tracker. A local friend wheeled it for a year and the FI stopped working, so he parked it...
After researching Polaris Razr 900s i called him up and picked it up... How they line up:
Rzr:
85hp. 80" wb, 1200lb
Tracker:
80hp, 86" wb, 2000lb
The goal is to cut as much weight as possible, get it running and flog it.
Now for the important parts, specs & pics.
95 Tracker
1.6l 8v tbi
5spd
5.13s, welded
IFS front, 4 link rear
2" lift

Looking forward to seeing this one.. The main diff is going to be the COG since the SXS's are mid engine.

The COG is a little higher with this then a razr & the weight bias isn't as good but I plan for this thing to see some air time.

First step is to get it running. After troubleshooting the FI in it looks like it'll need a new pump & computer. I am going to go with propane instead.
Here is my Carb to mixer adapter.

How about some 33" tractor tires?

well im kinda goin for lightweight, and i think tractor tires wouldnt do that...
I found some 28x10x15 SXS tires, just dont know if i want to spend $600

got the FI removed and the carb intake & mixer installed. Finally got all the pieces for the propane setup, just need to fill a tank and mount the lockout/regulator...
temporarily hooked an MSD up to the FI distributor, and got it to fire off carb cleaner.... it seems to run, but true testimate will be once the propane is on... If it doesnt work, I will need to source a dizzy & housing from carb sami. The FI dizzy doesnt have vacuum advance, but most ppl running propane recommend blocking that anyway...
Most of the work over the last week has been ridding the harness of unneeded wiring. I was wanting to keep the FI & harness completely intact but it was too mixed in with the body wiring to save. I am keep the mechanical pieces and plugs/pigtails for anyone that might need replacements.

Finally got the propane running...
Picked up some suspension seats, and bilstean shocks for it... Hoping to clean some of the wiring up, get tires installed, and take it out for a spin...
Ill get some pics up soon.

You keeping the suspension ifs?
ParadisePWoffrD
03-11-2012, 05:36 PM
yup... currently it has a 2" lift on it. I am keeping it at the current height and will be cutting out room for the tires/travel. I know the bilsteins wont work in the front currently...
Long term plans currently are to rid the mcpherson strut front susp and fab up a true double a-arm front suspension.... Not sure if I will keep the stock diff & axles long term, but I want it to have more wheel travel and handling then stock...
this thing will see general trail riding and some go fast stuff... ive got something else for the rocks.

Got the propane tuned in and installed... got most of the wiring done and the wheels and tires installed...

Going to build a battery box and move the battery behind the passenger seat...
Currently I think the tires are going to be too big, but after the test drive Ill know if it robs power...

Took it for a drive. In low it does well but I feel like it should have more power.
If anyone is interested in 34s, let me know.

Looks awesome, definitely needs smaller tires though. And a turbo :)

I would like some type of side protection, but I like this design.

apparently that guy just builds stuff and shows up places without much discussion or explanation...
Mine will only be a 2 seater for now. Im not planning to stretch it any.
The plans will be to have a tube door of sorts, so the wife can get in easier.
I am also thinking of keeping the stock windshield/frame to keep the elements off me.

so I found a cheap T25 turbo, and done some research on it.... I am going to try to do a blow thru setup eventually... will haveto build my own manifold, and plumb the oil/cooling lines and piping
this will be a long term adder, but should give me close to 100hp

A little update.
Repainted it because I'm not a huge camo fan.
Also picked up some 30x7 SX2s for it.
It has a little more power but needs more. Atleast the tires don't rub anymore.
