I have a 96 ram 1500 stock and i am looking to get new tires for it. I have a set of 285/75/16 on it now with some rubbing on tight turns so i believe I'm gonna have to drop down to a 265/75/16 or buy new rims with a diff backspacing any Ideas would be great on the rims or anything else I can do also looking at getting a set of Dick Cepek Crusher but I'm not sure how well they wear if any one knows anything about them let me know from what I have seen online they should be good for me. This is a daily driver form me with some off road but nothing to serious. Thanks

Any type of all terrain or mud tires will do fine for you. Theres so many different brands, just do some reading online to see which works best. Also, price plays a big part as well.
As for the size of tires, 285s are about as big as you can go without major rubbing. Im sure they are rubbing on the lower control arms when you turn it really tight. Only way to fix that, is wheel spacers or different wheels. I ran 35's on my last dodge for 8 years, I just didnt turn as tight when I had my factory wheels on it during the winters.

Thanks for the info all. RamAford do you happen to what backspacing I should look for on new rims and when you ran the 35's was your dodge lifted or stock. From what I found most ppl have lifted there dodge 3in to run 35's but if I can without the lift I would love to.

I had a 2500 and I fit 35's without any lift. I did run 37's after i put on a 5" lift though. On a 1500, you can run 33's stock. Throw on some 2 or 3" spacers up front to level it out will help clearing them, but at full turn, you will rub on the lower control arms. I think you need about 4" of back spacing to clear the arms with new wheels, but i would have to do a little searching.
