Time for new rod bearings in the rover. Any tips or cautions on doing it without pulling the engine? All opinions welcome.

Good luck. I would not do it with out pulling the motor. But thats just me.

If it doesn't fit, just use a big hammer. lol
The biggest difficulty it to be 100% clean and get them in perfectly. I would pull the motor to do it also.

Pull it and then put a better engine in its place.

Looking for a "keep it running" solution not a "spend all my extra money at once" solution. :icon_mrgreen:

I did not mean it in any way to be mean. If it was taken that way I am very sorry. It was only a bad joke. If I can help on the Rover in any way please let me know. Rob

lol, if that hurt my feelings I wouldn't have made it very far in life. You're right though, Rovers are on the pricey side to fix. I think I can do a full rod bearing swap for under $100. Company called Miami British has the bearings I need in standard, +1, and +2. Gonna go with the +1 bearings since im guessing I have some wear.

You cant just guess that the size that you are going to need. The tolerances that you are dealing with are very tight, and if this is either to tight or loose you will have oil pressure issues. If I were going to all of the "trouble" of doing main bearings then I would spring for the extra money to get rings, rod bearings, oil pump, and water pump.
