I have a friend with early 90's grand that is IFS.

The only ZJ (93-98 ) or WJ (99-04) Grand Cherokees that were IFS were two wheel drive. Jeep based the TJ Wrangler suspension from the ZJ design. The new GC body style (WK) is IFS though, and so is the Liberty, Commander and all the other little re-badged Dodges (Compass, Patriot, etc).

I'll have to take a closer look at his. It's for sure a jeep and it's IFS. It looks like a grand, but maybe it's something else. Also I thought he told me it was a 92, but maybe it's a different year. Thanks for the info.

James, have you considered swapping a (6cyl) 231 t-case into the WJ? Lots of options available for a 231 - 4:1 low range, 2wd low, SYE.
A more expensive option is a 241 from a Rubi.

GRRR i use one of those as my company vehicle.....it spends more time in the shop then it does on the road

I am begining too realize that
The owner before me rigged the whole setup so now I basically have too rebuild it from the ground up. The bolts on that hold all the brackets and everything where smaller than the holes in the frame  So now that is all finally getting corrected.
And what comes too that swap Rob? I never mess with heeps

6cyl 231 cases are in all Wranglers (YJ & TJ), and most XJ's - therefore they are plentiful. You'll need the 6cyl case, because it should fit your transmission bolt pattern & output shaft. Your WJ most likely has a full time case (242 or 249), and it's biggest drawback is your options for a front locker are reduced to a selectable (ARB, Ox, ECTED, etc) which obviously are much more expensive. With a (part-time) 231 or 241 case, you can run an Aussie or other lunchbox locker in the front axle. Several companies offer SYE kits for the 231, TeraFlex offers a shift fork conversion for 2wd low, and the 4:1 low range gears. While it is more expensive to buy initially, the 241 case from a Rubi already has the SYE and 4:1 gears from the factory.

It is full time as of now.
I will look for one of those cases.
If you know of any give me a holler.
I will snatch it up.

We should have all the issues on the heep fixed by this Friday.
The only thing that I need too do now is swap in a new Tcase and see about some protection for the pretty body.
Also may have found a deal on some new rimzeys and tires for it 8)

Make sure the 241 is a 241OR Rock-Trac. The 241 was used in several different vehicles without the 4:1 low range.

We did a bunch of work too the jeep today. Upgraded the tie-rod, and put in some new tie-rod ends, fixed a bunch of allignment issues. And a bunch of other things too get it ready too drive up this weekend. Also ordered a custom air-raid intake for it.
And also ordered a 7.5in Rock Krawler Long arm lift for it, the new t-case, new wheels/tires and acs adjustable coil spacers.
Current wheels/tires are for sale locally.
Also we are going too remove the fancy exhaust and make it so it won't hang down.
Also another mall crawler add on.. we finished putting in my navagation, dvd players, and two 12in subs.
I decided too stop bouncing around and keep this thing for good, cause there are not many of this lifted and I like too be original.
Just a little pic:

That's why I love my FSJ - it turns heads because ones that are lifted & built for crawling are few & far between. Plus, alot of people remember FSJ's from childhood memories (like myself).
