On my blazer the pinion has a very small amount of slop at the yoke. Maybe 1/8 inch or so. I have not had any funny noises come from the axle. Mind you this is the front axle. And is a 10 bolt. My question is could I just replace the pinion bearing and be good to go? If so does anyone have any experience doing this. Im sure I could do it but since I have never set up gears I wouldn't mind someone to just help me make sure I dont screw it up.

Let me know what your guys thoughts are.

I know the best idea is to just throw a 60 in there but I dont have that kinda cash flow right now and I want to get this thing back out in the woods. Tired of it just sitting around.

Thanks

Clint

The bearing probably isn't bad. My guess is the pinion nut came a little loose or the crush sleeve crushed a little. Just tighten the pinion nut some and it should be ok. You will probably need to replace the pinion seal.
