Noticed I hadn't put the new build thread here, so here's what I've been up to.

I have Jeep ADD, so here is Project Ritalin. I've changed directions on this pile more times than I can count. To date, I've had 4 different sets of axles to go in, 2 sets of tires, and a dozen different ideas on how I wanted this to turn out. Now, I have almost all the parts to start putting it together, so I thought I'd start a build thread. There will be times when I'll update this every day, and then times where it may go for weeks without a update. This jeep is being built on a stupid small budget, mostly because I'm really cheap.

My Jeep is a 2000 TJ SE, 2.5 with a 5 speed. I had locked HP30 and a Super 35 running 36's and was fairly pleased with the way it proformed, but it has always lacked in 2 areas, horsepower and wheelbase. This go around, I'll fix the wheelbase, I'll get to the horsepower later.

Here she is the last time she ran, I broke the frame on the last waterfall of Lower Damnation at Harlan last August.

Since then, it's sat on Jack stands and been robbed of parts that won't be returning, that includes the axles, top and fenders for now. Since the frame was broke, it has been cut off right around the rear upper control arm mount
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/back%20half/100_3910.jpg
So here are the new parts to go in:
38x12.50-15 TSL BIAS
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/Misc/0c0c6c57.jpg

9 inch from 77 F150 31spline, Big bearing, 5:13's welded, Disk brakes, I still have to truss and bracket

Walked into the garage to this sad site today.....
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/back%20half/100_4273.jpg

I knew I had to do something
So, I cut some of the body away, and built some body mounts,
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/back%20half/100_4264.jpg
Then, I welded everything together
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/back%20half/100_4265.jpg
the rear frame is Body dropped (like a lowrider) :D
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/back%20half/100_4266.jpg
everything is tucked in nice, notice where I cut the body away
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/back%20half/100_4272.jpg
I love the new (potential) departure angle

Started the work on the front long arms, here is where the cheap part kicks in...........
Clayton wants $125 for these front frame brackets

Well I wasn't about to pay that, so I started with some 2x4x3/16 tubing I got for free
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4274.jpg
I cut it to length, 4.5 on the short side, 5 inches on the long side, (this is to make up for the bend in the frame where the link mounts go) then I cut the tops off of the tubing.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4275.jpg
I also had some 3x3x1/4 angle iron with 3/4 inch holes already drilled near the ends
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4276.jpg
I cut the angle so it will eventually fit into the chopped 2x4
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4277.jpg
I cut the angle in half and then trimmed up the corners
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4278.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4279.jpg
I bolted the heims into the tabs I made, then stuck it into the cut 2x4 (1 inch from the short side, 1.5 inches from the long side)and tacked them in place
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4280.jpg
Welded it up and cut a notch in the front
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/wvjeepers/long%20arm%20and%20axle%20swap/100_4287.jpg
Here is one with the heim joint installed

TOTAL=$0

It wasn't my idea, thats is courtesy of the guys at atx, thier back half kit is desgned so you pretty much have to do it. I am liking the way it is turning out though.

Keep up the good work. Also love how you are explaining this to make it easier for others to do the same.
