I like the Nissan Titan.
However a King Ranch F250 is pretty sweet and would be tops in my list..

Get a 4wd Diesel F450 and if you ever decide to sell it will bring top dollar. Even a F350 would be great. Also the diesel will get more miles per gallon than the tundra.

Dont get the gas Ford, go diesel or dont touch it IMO, much better mpg/hp/TQ and durablilty over gas....I vote the foreign Tundra....would be sweet...and also CONGRATS on the graduation, its a big accomplishment.....

Are the f450's available with the Cat Engine, or are they bound to the new powerstroke still? If the Cat was available it would be a no brainer for the Ford. After all the 6.0 problems, id be skeptical of the new twin turbo stroke until they had some time to get the bugs out of it.
I got a chance to check out a new Tundra a few weeks ago and I was impressed to say the least!

prolly not on the gas mileage...im getting 16 city, 18 highway, and 12.5 to 13 towing. Also you cant beat the resale value of a toy

The tundra isnt a foreign vehicle...its made in either texas or indiana, with about 80% of the parts made in the USA too

450's and 550's are still powerstroke. You don't step up to the cat until the 650. We just got a new f550 crewcab with a rescue box on it here @ the station. It runs on all the technical rescues and wrecks with extrication.

Congrats on graduation.
Just to toss in something different, look at an International CXT. They run about 100K new.

How about you tell mom to buy you a house. It will actually go up in value and then just get a cheap car. That would be the wisest decision.

I would get a 4 dr jk wrangler rubicon and save your mom about 30-40 thousand. Also keep in mind my dad pays about 60 - 100 dollars for an oil change for his F250 diesel. He has it done, but it takes a lot of oil.

After my experience with a first year 6.0 PSD, I would strongly suggest that you wait at least a year before buying anything with the new 6.4PSD. Flint and I both had our 2003 F250s in the shop at least once a month for the first year that we had them. After Ford finally worked out the bugs the 6.0PSD was great. It made me mad that Ford chose to sell the trucks when they knew that they did not have the bugs worked out....
To make matters worse, when I was ready to sell the truck, it was very difficult to do with the 6.0PSD because almost everyone knew about the problems associated with the 2003-2004 vehicles. Even though the problems were fixed, people still remembered all of the bad press about the 6.0PSD. Just my 2 cents, but I will not buy another 1st year anything from Ford again (anything else for that matter; long story).
On the other hand, Toyota makes a great product in the Tundra, but it absolutely does not compare with a F450. What are you going to do with the truck? If it is just to drive around town and maybe carry the lawnmower, then I would get the Tundra. If it is to actually be used for towing/carrying heavy loads then the 450 is the choice. If you are considering a Tundra why would you not consider a F250 or F350, or for that matter a F150? A lighter truck will have softer springs and will ride better, get better fuel economy, and actually can be bought with more luxury features at a more reasonable price...
If you go with a F450, you will probably have 4.56 gears or something similarly deep, which will kill your fuel mileage. Lower gear ratios are available in the F-250 and F350 which will give better fuel mileage, albiet with lower towing capacity. Diesels get better fuel economy than gas engines when things are equal, but when you consider the gearing that a 1/2 ton rated Tundra has compared to that of the new F450 for daily driving, it's no contest, the lighter, lower geared Tundra will win.
I personally think that the first step in deciding what to buy is to understand what it will be used for. I think it would be silly to spend $60K to have a truck that will not be used for it's intended purpose, when a $35K truck would be perfect. Sure it's cool to have the biggest pick-up on the block, but is it the best use of your parents hard-earned money?

Im going with Gubni on this one. get a house. You wouldn't even have to live in it. Just rent it out. And get a decent little toyota truck. A small house would boost your credit and like he said the value will go up.
But if it must be a truck go for the new Tundra. I drove one a while back and that thing will get up and go. you can feel every horse lifting the truck up as you hit the gas. Plus I think it may have that deal where it shuts down ceratin pistons when you don't need them But I would check on that.

Get a used Tundra and invest the rest. Vehicles are depreciating assets. If you're set on a truck get the 450 or any diesel and you'll have a tow rig forever. Unless you get the chevy with the allison get a standard trans.

I agree. The Allison is a great transmission. Super positive shifts, never hunts, and always on top of the torque band. I love it. I moved to Chevrolet because of the way Ford Corporate treated me in dealing with my transmission problems with my Superduty. I sold my 2000 Superduty because the transission died on me (partially my fault), and the Troqushift in my 2003 F250 died after only 56K miles (not my fault).
I was mad at Ford for forcing me to look at other makes, but in the end, I am happier with my '06 Chevrolet than I ever was with my Fords.

I agree with what some have said about buying a house or invest it! You'll look about 10-15 years down the road when that Tundra and F450 is junk and the money you get out it isn't no where near what you paid for it.
A maintenance mech. where I work just brought a new F350. He had it no time. I think there was only 67 miles on it and a rocker arm broke. $60,000 bucks!!!! What junk! They asked if he wanted it fixed or a new one. He told them to keep and ordered another one. I hope this one does him better.
Find you a nice 4 door Tocoma, New Tahoe, Chevy 2500/3500, or a nice Rubi Jeep!
