Well I guess I havent started a buildup thread of the Monty since I have been on Grace so its about time. I have done a few things to it in the last year or two and have posted them seperately so most of you know already. However I will start fresh with this recent mod to it.

Went over and finally got rid of the scratches on the bottom with something a little more "scratch resistant". Drake sprayed it on with a Ceiling texture gun and it worked unbelievably well. It only took about 5-10 minutes of spraying and the prep work was the most time consuming part. The herculiner turned out well with being sprayed on and I am pleased with the result. So heres the pics.

How much for the interior and some exterior of a toyota?

05-22-2007, 11:38 AM
Tell you this much I have my blazer done like this also and over time it fades a bit but if you wash it reall good you can make it shine agian. Also I found the green tire wash stuff at the car wash cleans it up real good. Lastly it helps keep you from getting dents as bad. Trust me about this I know.

i've heard if you add the uv protectant it will look good for longer. hurculiner has a tendancy to fade since it doesn't have a uv protectant already in it.

Looks great!

Damage Multiplier = Brush Guard.

When you bump something with one instead of just a scratch on your bumper it will come back and damage the fenders, hood, and grill.

oh now that i don't know. I know its a four door. and not that old 2000 maybe........Ok I just called her and its a 2001 and it is a sport. So I guess it won't work, huh?

Monstero
05-23-2007, 05:45 PM
Ya I dont think it will work for a sport. it will be wider than the sports front end by quite a bit and wont follow the lines of the sports front end. Shucks.... :(

Well another recent set of mods was done to the monty this weekend. This will give me more communication with the engine to know whats going on. Been wanting a set of gauges for a while now and finally got around to putting them in.

I got a trans temp/oil press/oil temp. Got them from www.Glowshiftdirect.com and was shipped quick and good price on all three.

Fussed around with the wiring and stuff on sunday and got it done(did I mention I HATE anything electrical, just too tedious :? )

Here is a pic. I ended up getting the tinted 7 color so they look black in the daylight when off. I will get some at night eventually here and post em up as well...but this gives you the idea.

Well got started doing some things to the Monty this weekend. I was doing maintenance things while Jarret got started on building the sliders. My tranny fluid was in BAD need of being changed. It was pretty dark and smelled burnt. I probably should have changed it sooner. But I took this opportunity to drop the pan, change the filter and while the pan was off I had Drake(Pitch) weld in a bung for a much more accurate tranny temp than before.

So I got that done and then started on doing some other things like tracking down a annoying exhaust tick somewhere. While I was doing that Jarret was tackling the best way to mount sliders under there. I kept my OEM running boards and it turns out the brackets that held them in place were built much sturdier than you would think. So he cut them off and used the brackets.

He got the brackets done and cleaned up ready to weld and got the pipe bent and tacked in shape. There will be some more reinforcing to go in there and will look and see after they are welded up and mounted. They look like your standard sliders pretty much so far and its looking like they should be welded up and finished by tomorrow.

All in all I got a lot of much needed maintenance done to the Monty today. It will be nice to have peace of mind that the rockers wont get damaged after the sliders are built up. Here is a few more pics and I will post up more when they are done tomorrow.

They are done....welded up....put 1/8" plate on the outside to stop them from grabbing rocks. Put cutouts on both ends of the skin to allow drainage. Jarret did a great job and they look OEM on there. They are angled up slightly and do not stick out past the body lines which is also nice. Here are the pics.

07-02-2007, 08:06 AM
Nope...not a bit of regrets...love having the Herculiner on the bottom. If you do Herculiner I would get the UV topcoat. Cause I did that at the same time and left a small spot uncovered and you can def tell a difference where the topcoat is and where it isnt. Keeps it looking black and new.
